Club Europe Catering Guide - September 2018 onwards

This thread outlines the new arrangements for Club Europe catering introduced on Wednesday 12 September 2018 based on 5 bands (Express, and Bands 1-4). The main information piece - in terms of timings and the distance zones for the meals can be found in post 1. The following cross references the photos below against the matrix of options. In addition to the photos, some FTers have written extensively on their experiences so there is more to this thread than the pictures. Also note that the menus for LGW routes rotate monthly, whereas LHR routes rotate bi-weekly

Please keep this thread clear for for reviews, menu descriptions, and photos. For chat about the new service arrangements there is a dedicated thread has now been set up for this Club Europe catering opinions and general discussion

Please do not quote photos in this thread.

The previous shorthaul catering guide for Sunday 26 March 2017 to Tuesday 11 September 2018 is now locked, but is to be found here.

Numbers relate to the post number. Vegetarian means the alternative option provided as standard rather than the special meals. The pre-ordered special meals are AVML (Asia-vegetarian), CHML(children meal), DBML (diabetic meal), GFML (gluten free), HNML (Hindu non-vegetarian meal), KSML (Kosher meal), LCML (low calorie meal), LFML (low fat meal), NLML (low-lactose meal), LSML (low salt meal), MOML (Muslim meal), VGML (vegan meal), and VLML (lacto-ovo vegetarian).

There are differences between the offering in/out of LHR, LGW, and BA CityFlyer routes operated from LCY, STN, BRS, BHX, MAN, EDI, and DUB. For BA CityFlyer flights please refer to this guide created by eJetter BA CityFlyer catering guide

No real difference in Band 4 versus any other at the moment, it's the choice of breakfast optoons you have seen above, or the choice of pasta or pie, also as above. I think the pasta/pie are decent but since it's the same meal served on virtually all CE flights for the past few weeks, I'd be ready for literally anything else by now.

travelling LHR-IST and back next week, both early flights, so both will be breakfast.

My husband doesn’t eat pork, so wondering whether it would be best to order a special meal one way to avoid having the same meal outbound and return!

Also not sure if the return flight (BA0675) from Istanbul will be catered from Istanbul, or chilled on board overnight, as I guess it’s a night stop….
Istanbul is catered as a pork free flight, you'll notice NOP scrawled all over the catering! All catering on short haul is ex London and left on the aircraft over night in chilled boxes. If you order a special meal, chances are that it will be the same both ways. Hope that helps

Thank you, that’s really helpful. Presumably due to the lack of pork, there won’t be an option of a full English on the ‘normal menu’ then.

I think we might leave it with the standard options on the outbound, and depending on what the options are, order a special meal for the return.

Separately (and OT) don't rely on food in the IGA contract lounge at IST either - it's grim, fine for snacking.

Actually Love - it is a sign of the times that all this pork is being handed out. It is cheap. Once upon a time it was never served a main as so many do not eat it for all sorts of reasons. That seems to have gone west along with much else.

Totally agree - I have thought that it has been a strange choice of meat when seeing all these photos of BA’s versions of ‘contemporary British cuisine’ recently. Thankfully I’ve managed to avoid the shrivelled up pork chop dinner and bangers & mash so far

From my experience the Kosher starter and main are reliably better quality than the normal meal. The dessert not so, due to the Kosher dietary restrictions.

True. That's why on my last CE flight i asked if they have any dessert left from the usual tray. A few moments later they brought me one. The best from both worlds!

The catering team must have got a huge discount on bulk ordering sausages, potatoes and mince and are still working through the backlog. I don't mind a sausage but it's hard to mess up a curry!

Antipasti plate on BA1441 today (EDI-LHR) today. I enjoyed this, and the chocolate/raspberry dessert. Was proactively offered a second mini bottle of champagne later in the flight.

The antipasti plate appears to be the replacement for the chicken salad which was offered on every one of my band 1 flights in Dec/Jan. It is quite tasty but it is only about 5 mouthfuls… Hopefully the menu will start to be rotated a bit more frequently - the crew tend to look embarrassed when you tell them you’ve had the same meal repeatedly.

AGP (Malaga) > LHR (Heathrow)

Champagne out of full size bottles

British pork sausages and mash

I’ll be an FT rebel and say this was very good. Great crew.
