Club Europe Catering Guide - September 2018 onwards

This thread outlines the new arrangements for Club Europe catering introduced on Wednesday 12 September 2018 based on 5 bands (Express, and Bands 1-4). The main information piece - in terms of timings and the distance zones for the meals can be found in post 1. The following cross references the photos below against the matrix of options. In addition to the photos, some FTers have written extensively on their experiences so there is more to this thread than the pictures. Also note that the menus for LGW routes rotate monthly, whereas LHR routes rotate bi-weekly

Please keep this thread clear for for reviews, menu descriptions, and photos. For chat about the new service arrangements there is a dedicated thread has now been set up for this Club Europe catering opinions and general discussion

Please do not quote photos in this thread.

The previous shorthaul catering guide for Sunday 26 March 2017 to Tuesday 11 September 2018 is now locked, but is to be found here.

Numbers relate to the post number. Vegetarian means the alternative option provided as standard rather than the special meals. The pre-ordered special meals are AVML (Asia-vegetarian), CHML(children meal), DBML (diabetic meal), GFML (gluten free), HNML (Hindu non-vegetarian meal), KSML (Kosher meal), LCML (low calorie meal), LFML (low fat meal), NLML (low-lactose meal), LSML (low salt meal), MOML (Muslim meal), VGML (vegan meal), and VLML (lacto-ovo vegetarian).

There are differences between the offering in/out of LHR, LGW, and BA CityFlyer routes operated from LCY, STN, BRS, BHX, MAN, EDI, and DUB. For BA CityFlyer flights please refer to this guide created by eJetter BA CityFlyer catering guide

Not joking, those slops on a tray look exactly like those shovelled out on the Yorkshire Airlines sketch from Hale and Pace. Think it's got to be KSML again for VCE-LHR lunch this weekend

My sausages

look better than yours Vintage Pilot

But you do have more peas but I have cucumber
Brown Sauce would have helped things a little Daddies or Hp I’m not particular though I am sure Pucci would have an opinion on this

I've seen a few people mention on this thread that they've ordered a Kosher meal and generally got something far better than what's currently on offer in CE. I did however half-remember something about this could, in future, prejudice your chances of an upgrade if a requirement for a special meal was on file for you. Any truth in this, or just an urban myth? Otherwise I'm tempted to give it a go.

I generally fly LHR-BCN so while the recent changes have meant that I now at least get a hot meal in CE, unless it's Shepherd's Pie it's all a bit uninspiring. I really hope this "Best of British" thing ends soon, it's a nice idea but there's only so many school dinners a man can stand!

Made the mistake of looking over some old photos today and it's criminal the amount of food we were expected to consume! This was on a LGW-PFO-LGW back in 2011, our first time flying Club.

I always particularly enjoyed the substance on the blue plate that came with breakfast.

Think the only positive enhancement since then is real milk for the tea.

Ah, the old seats as well. And the Pommery

Not sure if I am making this up, but was there a bread basket with a selection of rolls to choose from as well then?

Why would you be worried about missing an upgrade if you were already flying in the CE cabin?

That said, we were once offered an op-up from Y to J on a transpacific Delta flight due to Y being oversold, and the op-up was almost rescinded once they found out we had ordered special meals in Y. We had to reassure them several times that we didn't mind having to eat a standard J meal. :-)

Cous cous overload

LHR-ABZ 1350 departure KSML

Very tasty but just a little too much cous cous tbh. Cutting into the chicken sent some of it onto the tray. Dessert was quite tasty and better than the current bowl of cream that’s on the regular dishes IMO. The bread roll was meh!

So is it generally agreed that KSML is the best option for Band 2 flights like BCN-LHR? Also, will they still be serving the duck leg next month, or do they change menus periodically?

What is the cut-off time between being served afternoon tea and dinner? Was expecting sandwiches and scones today (3.30pm departure) but it’s actually sausage mash or aubergine pasta slop or quinoa salad - wish I’d gone for KSML
