Club Europe Catering Guide - September 2018 onwards

This thread outlines the new arrangements for Club Europe catering introduced on Wednesday 12 September 2018 based on 5 bands (Express, and Bands 1-4). The main information piece - in terms of timings and the distance zones for the meals can be found in post 1. The following cross references the photos below against the matrix of options. In addition to the photos, some FTers have written extensively on their experiences so there is more to this thread than the pictures. Also note that the menus for LGW routes rotate monthly, whereas LHR routes rotate bi-weekly

Please keep this thread clear for for reviews, menu descriptions, and photos. For chat about the new service arrangements there is a dedicated thread has now been set up for this Club Europe catering opinions and general discussion

Please do not quote photos in this thread.

The previous shorthaul catering guide for Sunday 26 March 2017 to Tuesday 11 September 2018 is now locked, but is to be found here.

Numbers relate to the post number. Vegetarian means the alternative option provided as standard rather than the special meals. The pre-ordered special meals are AVML (Asia-vegetarian), CHML(children meal), DBML (diabetic meal), GFML (gluten free), HNML (Hindu non-vegetarian meal), KSML (Kosher meal), LCML (low calorie meal), LFML (low fat meal), NLML (low-lactose meal), LSML (low salt meal), MOML (Muslim meal), VGML (vegan meal), and VLML (lacto-ovo vegetarian).

There are differences between the offering in/out of LHR, LGW, and BA CityFlyer routes operated from LCY, STN, BRS, BHX, MAN, EDI, and DUB. For BA CityFlyer flights please refer to this guide created by eJetter BA CityFlyer catering guide

Does anyone have any way of reliably predicting when KSML will contain fish? I always like the idea of the better meal, but can’t eat fish and from what I’ve observed on here, it’s not irregularly part of the menu.

Absolutely no way of knowing. you might have meat or you might have fish, both occur regularly and cycles are a lot less clear than for regular meals.

KSML from WAW-LHR yesterday evening. It’s an avocado starter with duck leg main.

Kids CE meal on BA1386 LHR-MAN 26th October.

Cheese and I think Turkey, with cucumber and tomato with an olive bread and chocolate mousse. My son didn't like the cheese or olive bread, but liked everything else.

No photos, but I had Pumpkin salad and it was absolutely delicious. I've not really eaten pumpkin before, so thought I'd try it, admittedly it was flavoured.

I think I'd order that just to get the chocolate mousse again .
It is a shame BA chose olive bread as the single option. Right now I don't understand why the pre-covid bread basket can't come back, and just have the crew put it onto the tray with tongs.

Is afternoon tea being served on band 2? Or just rest of day meal? What might a post covid AVML afternoon tea consist of?

Cinnamon, I believe, and it is indeed delicious. Easily the best short-flight offering of recent times IMO, but far too small to be a main on a long flight.

The relative proportions of the KSML to standard CE meals are such that when I was just about approaching the half way mark on the duck leg, most trays around me were being collected and teas and coffees offered. I'm not a slow eater either. It's pretty much a good CW main in my view albeit haven't travelled in that cabin for a while now.

I was thinking that the other day. I like olive bread, but if I was choosing one type of bread to serve pax it wouldn’t be flavoured. I would go with a crusty (in the good way!) brown roll.
