Club Europe Catering Guide - September 2018 onwards

This thread outlines the new arrangements for Club Europe catering introduced on Wednesday 12 September 2018 based on 5 bands (Express, and Bands 1-4). The main information piece - in terms of timings and the distance zones for the meals can be found in post 1. The following cross references the photos below against the matrix of options. In addition to the photos, some FTers have written extensively on their experiences so there is more to this thread than the pictures. Also note that the menus for LGW routes rotate monthly, whereas LHR routes rotate bi-weekly

Please keep this thread clear for for reviews, menu descriptions, and photos. For chat about the new service arrangements there is a dedicated thread has now been set up for this Club Europe catering opinions and general discussion

Please do not quote photos in this thread.

The previous shorthaul catering guide for Sunday 26 March 2017 to Tuesday 11 September 2018 is now locked, but is to be found here.

Numbers relate to the post number. Vegetarian means the alternative option provided as standard rather than the special meals. The pre-ordered special meals are AVML (Asia-vegetarian), CHML(children meal), DBML (diabetic meal), GFML (gluten free), HNML (Hindu non-vegetarian meal), KSML (Kosher meal), LCML (low calorie meal), LFML (low fat meal), NLML (low-lactose meal), LSML (low salt meal), MOML (Muslim meal), VGML (vegan meal), and VLML (lacto-ovo vegetarian).

There are differences between the offering in/out of LHR, LGW, and BA CityFlyer routes operated from LCY, STN, BRS, BHX, MAN, EDI, and DUB. For BA CityFlyer flights please refer to this guide created by eJetter BA CityFlyer catering guide

BA 1469 INV-LHR February 2020

February 2020
British Airways Club World
BA 1469 Inverness to London Heathrow

Afternoon tea was served and there was no choice of entrees like the inbound flight from LHR to INV. Service was horrible and the F/A could not be any ruder, despite it was their first flight of the day with a light load in both cabins.

Food was lovely though. I like this selection of sandwiches better.

Smoked salmon

Cheese and pickles sandwich

Avocado soft roll

Scone

Chocolate vanilla cake

Bus gate this evening

BA 1468 LHR-INV February 2020

February 2020
British Airways Club Europe
BA 1468

Full cabin with afternoon tea service
There was a choice of sandwich or cold cuts
Crews were friendly, despite having less time to serve a full cabin

Shrimp salad soft sandwich and cream cheese & cucumber dark bread

Open faced cheese and walnut sandwich

Raisin scone

Carrot cake - icing was stuck at the plastic cover so I kept it intact while taking the photo

CE from EDI - LGW
Breakfast service.
Choices were Smoked Salmon(all gone), Mushroom frittata or the above; Parsley pork sausage with cheese frittata.
Not a looker but really tasty.

That is interesting. I am consistently finding the quality of food on LGW significantly poorer than on LHR and it even seems to have gone further downhill recently (supplier change?).

The butter is better on LGW services though (and even more so before the change). :-)

Interesting, I suppose it is quite subjective. There is definitely quite a difference in style of presentation now, with the LHR offerings certainly looking prettier. The LGW catering seems heartier in comparison and just as tasty, but perhaps a bit less refined.

I would complete agree with that. Sometimes even tastes better then the LHR versions.

Is it a matter of Newrest and Do&Co? If people start preferring Newrest then either BA aren't using Do&Co to their full capabilities (probably due to budget) but surely Do&Co wouldn't be happy with that kind of feedback...

Apologies if this has already been asked. But at 118 pages, I'm sure you can forgive me for not scrolling through all of it!

Whats the difference between band 1 and band 2 meals?

Have a look at post 1 which explains it. The answer in terms of what you get is no difference.

Well, yes, other than routes I couldn't really see any difference!

Far easier if they'd stuck with the original Short/Medium/Long really.

I believe it is a matter of that, yes.

Obviously, it is very subjective and I have consistently found the Do&Co meals to be of higher quality than the Newrest ones, at least for band 1. That said, it could also be that the quality of either provider (or both) is inconsistent so that it is a matter of whether you are travelling on one of their good days…

I had the layered aubergine today. was described to me as baked aubergine. Very tasty!!

Band 3 flight

We did get hot towels

No menus
No drinks and nuts, straight to the meal

The hummus starter needs some pita bread

On band 3/4 I would definitely include another huge factor, whether the crew have heated it to within an inch of its life or not

Ba1492, 18/02/20 LHR-GLA "Evening Meal"

There was a choice this evening, chicken tikka salad or some other salad with barley

I went for the chicken tikka salad

It was good. Twice today I have had the hummus starter. Still think it needs some Pita bread.
