Club Europe Catering Guide - September 2018 onwards

This thread outlines the new arrangements for Club Europe catering introduced on Wednesday 12 September 2018 based on 5 bands (Express, and Bands 1-4). The main information piece - in terms of timings and the distance zones for the meals can be found in post 1. The following cross references the photos below against the matrix of options. In addition to the photos, some FTers have written extensively on their experiences so there is more to this thread than the pictures. Also note that the menus for LGW routes rotate monthly, whereas LHR routes rotate bi-weekly

Please keep this thread clear for for reviews, menu descriptions, and photos. For chat about the new service arrangements there is a dedicated thread has now been set up for this Club Europe catering opinions and general discussion

Please do not quote photos in this thread.

The previous shorthaul catering guide for Sunday 26 March 2017 to Tuesday 11 September 2018 is now locked, but is to be found here.

Numbers relate to the post number. Vegetarian means the alternative option provided as standard rather than the special meals. The pre-ordered special meals are AVML (Asia-vegetarian), CHML(children meal), DBML (diabetic meal), GFML (gluten free), HNML (Hindu non-vegetarian meal), KSML (Kosher meal), LCML (low calorie meal), LFML (low fat meal), NLML (low-lactose meal), LSML (low salt meal), MOML (Muslim meal), VGML (vegan meal), and VLML (lacto-ovo vegetarian).

There are differences between the offering in/out of LHR, LGW, and BA CityFlyer routes operated from LCY, STN, BRS, BHX, MAN, EDI, and DUB. For BA CityFlyer flights please refer to this guide created by eJetter BA CityFlyer catering guide

I have never seen a hot dinner in CE from GVA...

well not for a very long time... it is normally a salad of some description.

Cooked breakfast available on appropriate flights.

GVA gets a hot dinner after 5pm, on CityFlyer only.

Cityflyer is indeed a different kettle of fish and far more generous in their catering on the whole (except on long flights) but on mainline, definitely no hot dinners: just hot breakfast, quiche or cold cuts for brunch, sandwiches or ploughman with scone for afternoon tea, and cold salad for lunch and dinner.

Hello all - can I comfortably assume that the (winner winner) chicken dinner rotation posted by PUCCI in post 1537 is running until the next changeover (the coming Wednesday, albeit Xmas Day) for ex-LHR band 3/4?

in previous years, BA don't change menus over the Christmas period, I think this might run for longer until after the Christmas/NYE period is over!

Shepherd’s pie from the current Band 3/4 menu to LHR. Both hot options were fairly carb-heavy, but I thought this was reasonably tasty. Certainly adds to the recent main course theming.

Enjoyed the meal, despite it reinforcing my sense of injustice at the poor relation treatment of long band 2 routes...

We have a 10:25 Band 2 (BCN) coming up ... is quiche still the standard offering for this meal service? Might need to go for a tactical breakfast before if that is that case.

Thanks for any insights or alternative SPML suggestions.

You may want to give said colleague a link to the well known Fawlty Towers episode, where Basil Fawlty was flummoxed by the concept.

I guess this was the rockin' and rollin' EDI-LGW service, I was in 2F (G-GAT). I can't see a photo of it, but here it is.

CE LGW TO EDI - hot smoked salmon and potato salad (half eaten) and chocolate orange pot - both really good. And gallons of good champers too. My first BA flight in 3 years, and I was quite impressed...

This is the excact same meal served between AMS-LGW vv (though truthfully I did not find anything hot/warm about the salmon - if this is what the context is for hot). As for drinks, I quite like the Red Malbec which had a distinctive taste of berries.
The non-meat version was either the bulgur (AMS inbound) or the quinoa (AMS outbound) option.

Cheers!

The "hot" refers to how the salmon is smoked. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smokin...g)#Hot_smoking

Had smoked trout (temperature of the smoke not specified!) on LGW-AMS last week - nice piece of fish

On the return the afternoon tea was meh. Two very small 'sandwiches', two cakes and fruit salad. Used to have 3 'sandwiches'. The clotted cream was a much bigger container than previous and I used that on the fruit salad.
