Flying today with BA to Sin (First) then changing to Garuda (Y) at Sin, different PNR so would need to re check luggage at Sin

My question is it possible to go to the transfer desk within the terminal at Singapore or must we go through immigration and check in ? i was told it was possible airside but i am not 100% sure.

Doing this with a transfer to Vietnam Airlines (also skyteam) we had to go through immigration, claim baggage and then recheck in (I did ask at transfer but was told this is what we needed to do). Immigration took some time, despite which luggage had still not arrived at the carousel - but i had allowed 5 hours for the transfer so there was no issue. Good luck!

BA will check your bag to SIN. So you will have to clear passport control, collect your bag from the baggage hall and clear customs before checking-in with Garuda and going back through security.

Most likely they will check your bag, then there will be passport control. After you pick up the bag and return through the protected area.

just gives me a quick chance to ask whether there's any sort of arrivals lounge at Singapore, as I'm doing a similar transfer next week.

No arrivals lounge.
In order to collect your bags you need to go through immigration.

We arrived 15 mins early from London (BA First was great BTW even with a 18 month old), Immigration was quick , bags took a while to arrive but was out in the terminal within 45 mins of the scheduled arrival time , hopped on the sky train to T3 and checked in with Garuda , Immigration was quick again and back Air Side within 70 mins.

Quite Painless and wouldn't hesitate to do again.
