They’ve been scheduled on the later BA297/296 rotation (originally the earlier BA295/294) for the summer.

1x Hi-J 747
1x A380
4x 787-8 (AA)

AA is all-787 at ORD now so not sure if this is a boost in capacity or not over the last summers BA/AA combined service

ORD was discussed/announced as an A380 route last year here:

Flew BA297 A380 into ORD June 29th - very comfortable experience!

Which other carriers fly A380s into ORD, does anyone know?

BA is the only scheduled operator. It started in May so is still a relatively new service.

When they did their T5 modernization over the last couple of years, part of what they did was to enable the 380.

This is a standard route for me given I have family north of Milwaukee. Can anyone shed light on comfort level in economy compared to the 747 running on this route?

The 747s used on the Chicago route are the Super Hi-J ones which are recently refurbished and with excellent IFE. However, in Y, nothing really beats the A380, especially if you can get on the upper deck.

Flew it on BA297 on friday... Was nicely expecting a A380, but the boarding was a bit of shambles.
Plane came in late, then for some reason the second jetway for M11A wasn't working (hadn't been working for 296 one week before, which had led to our 747 disembarking using only one door).

So they had to board (late) a full A380 through only one bridge. Full announcement in the lounge asking all passengers to remain there (they didn't want all 500 at the gate), then pre-boarding then group 1 to 5 upper deck only, then lower deck by group number.
It all went fine and we arrived in advance, but you could see GAs a bit under stress with the full 380 to load through one door.
