I flew back on this two weeks ago - the very kind lounge lady escorted us through what she described as "the throngs of the masses" shouting for everyone to move as "first class is coming through".

As an aside, I was rather surprised to find a kettle in the first lounge for people to make their own cups of tea.

This picture doesn’t demonstrate the scale well, but the view from the F lounge onto the A380 gate at ORD is one of the best lounge views I’ve experienced.

I broke my A380 F duck last week on this route, To be honest, the crew were a little underwhelming-lovely, but disorganised, The 744 crew in F on the outbound however, were stellar.

This is usually pretty up to date: Mixed Fleet vs non Mixed Fleet routes

As a Chicago resident, I have to say the A380 is stretching the home team at ORD...

BA Discontinues A380

According to the 2019 schedule released by BA, looks like for the first few months they will operate a 747 and 777 for daily service to LHR and then switching back to 747 for both daily service flights when I checked June. Any update as to why they may be discontinuing the A380 to ORD?

Looking at "2019" doesn't give you a particularly meaningful picture of what's happening. Better dates are the beginnings of the two annual scheduling seasons, ie the last Sunday in March and the last Sunday in October.

If you look at the break points, the 380 ceases to fly to ORD at the end of northern summer 2018. From 28 October 2018, the beginning of northern winter 2018/19, the schedule is one 747 and one 777, as you have seen. From 31 March 2019, the beginning of northern summer 2019, the current plan is for two 747s.

Aircraft allocations are moved around depending on seasons, expected loads, and where the airline thinks they can be profitably deployed. In addition, final decisions about northern summer 2019 won't be made until nearer the time. Schedule change season for NW2018./19 is in full swing now, so in four or five months' time there might be more clarity about whether a 380 will go back to ORD for that season.
