BA28 or BA32 (HKG-LHR)?

Sorry if this has been covered elsewhere. I’m about to book a flight from HKG-LHR in CW. Is there a difference between the BA28 or BA32, which appear to leave and arrive at very similar times to each other? Do people here have a preference?

Definitely the 380 flight. A lot quieter, and a lot smoother ride. (Purely personal opinion!)

A380 upper deck for a very quiet smooth ride 👌

32 everyday of the week but that’s only if Cathay isn’t in the same price bracket.

In specific circumstances, I can think of one good reason to use BA28: if you arrived in HKG on BA27 two days previously, so that you can fly back with the same crew that you flew out with.

Otherwise, my preference would also be for BA32.

Another vote for the BA32.

I will say (and please treat this as a personal, subjective point of view) that the 773 rides through turbulent skies better than the A380, which has a tendency to roll like a moving cross channel ferry on choppy waters. Overall though, it is the A380's cabin pressurisation and humidity levels that makes the difference for me - i feel noticeably fresher after the 12 hour overnight flight.
Tip of the day
If you are tall and prefer a window seat, I recommend the A380 main deck. The rows are spaced the same distance apart as on the upper deck (and indeed on the 773) but downstairs the gap between the seat and fuselage wall is wider, much wider so if you are 6'-2"+ its wide enough to accommodate your feet while your legs are fully stretched

I had exactly this choice to make yesterday for a flight early next month and went for the BA32 as on the day I need to fly, it was the same price as the BA28. Often it seems to be more expensive.

There are other reasons to fly BA28:

1. Late connections from Asia - I've flown in from MNL and the extra 15 minutes saved my skin;
2. Upgrade availability - I'd upgrade using avios on BA28 before I'd take the chance of an op-up, let alone fly in a lower cabin, on BA32;
3. Fare bucket availability - Unusual, but if BA32 is much more expensive, or you can fly in a higher cabin for less, it makes sense to go for BA28. This is surprisingly rare, though.

Assuming none of those apply (same price, no tight connections or coming from HK city) BA32 is a no-brainer.

The A380 has side bins on the upper deck so that is my preference. I also would rather arrive at 0430 rather than 0500, though this has yet to happen (I always experience minor delays)

Although I wouldn't book it for wifi, BA28 is usually a 77W, which gives you a decent chance of getting onboard wifi.
