Can you provide example dates / class

If it's far cheaper, most likely direct on a LCC, then book with them ?

Depends when you look and whether cheaper selling classes have already sold out - there are also lots of point to point customers on that route. Looking for later this year I can see EDI-LHR-LIS rtn for £194 and FAO for about the same for a 3 night stay.

Hi Andy

EDI taxes are really expensive in comparison with other places. I recently did a 241 redemption to HKG. Our usual/nearest airport is EDI (though it's 6 n half a dozen with GLA). With our redemption to HKG in J - EDI was £167 pp more expensive than flying from INV. Thankfully my mum's still up there and I can get free car parking!

People here complain about LHR having expensive taxes but LHR was £96 pp more expensive than INV but still cheaper than EDI.

Have a play around with INV on the ITA Matrix and see how your taxes come out at.

Cheers.

Have a look at availability on Avios. Sometimes even when the cash fares are pretty phenomenal, Avios availability is still there.

I consider it one of the best uses of Avios despite the fact a lot of people consider redemption for Y to be really poor value.

That's because INV is exempt from APD whilst EDI isn't.
