Chinese Herring? Hunting mystery freq flyer tool

Chinese whispers with a potential red herring gives...

A friend was in a lounge yesterday and overheard a group of people (she thinks - she was supposed to be listening to her conference call!) talking about a website that compared routes to see which generated not just the best price and miles, but also tier points. She thought she heard that it had just been bought by google, but that's about all the details I have. They left before she could ask.

I'm aware of orudges tool, and the 30k plug in, but this doesn't ring any bells at all. I've had a quick look here, but details are so scant I'm not having any luck. Does it ring any bells with people or is this a case of Chinese herrings?

ITA matrix is owned by google. It doesnít give TPs, but if you know what these are you can add them up yourself.

I was directed to a site via a Google Flights search the other day that told you the amount of miles you would earn with the fare...no mention of tier points though.

Never heard of orudges tool or the 30k plug in. What's all that about?

Many thanks folks. orudge is listed on the tiers part of the BA sticky - https://www.owenrudge.net/utils/bacalc/

30k is a chrome extension for certain travel websites (expedia is one). You tell it what programmes you're a member of, and it adds how many miles/avios you would earn for that combination of flights, directly into your search results.

I've not heard of ITA - will go look investigate!

So I've had a play with ITA, but not sure why it's any better than, say, kayak. Oh well - the hunt for the perfect tool continues!

It used to be until a few weeks ago when its most useful functionality (multiple departure countries/cities) was removed, presumably to try and persuade people to use and make purchases through Kayak and Google Flights instead, which the same engine powers anyway.

It's very powerful once you start using some of the advanced searching. Choosong aircraft type, operator, connection lengths, specific fare, etc, etc.

Matrix became far less useful for Europeans when it stopped supporting multiple countries. This is crying out for someone to do some automation on top of Matrix to search multiple countries and aggregate results.

(the main ITA Matrix thread discusses that change in more detail).

Somebody posted a comment on HfP that they had done just that with a bit of javascript, but I dont think they ever came through with providing it to others unfortunately! I'd pay for the functionality if somebody came up with it.
