Resurrecting this thread to wonder if last week's election result was good or bad news for Heathrow expansion?
My feeling is that is is good news. With a comfortable majority the government can push forward with some of their more controversial plans and the Prime Minister will conveniently forget his previous opposition to the scheme. Heathrow will need a lost of extra capacity so that those new northern Tory MPs can get to work.

but the air miles tax will probably be forgotten which is also good news eh?

9.13 For journeys by public transport, MPs may buy a ticket of any class but (except where paragraph 9.14 applies) reimbursement will be limited to the rate of an economy class ticket available at the time of booking. In the case of air travel, ‘economy’ includes ‘flexible economy’.

Some/many years ago, the OH was the MoD/RAF Desk Officer for Allowances Policy. Oh, the scams they tried. I have no doubt MPs will continue to try their luck.
She had the sad experience of being the Specialist at the Court Martial of a good friend of ours, who had played the system badly. Not a nice experience for both parties.

MPs can claim for economy only. But this includes full Y. So I wonder if many 'game' this and get reduced cost CE.

Didn't he manufacture an excuse as Foreign Secretary to be out of the country for the parliamentary vote?
And check this from ca 2:25 referring to the bulldozer promises he'd made earlier. Obviously, now, all bets are off.

IAG are seeing the election result as an opportunity to try and stop - or at least reduce the cost of - Heathrow expansion:
