Yes I think you are right, and the link i posted shows the very complex matrix which confirms this. However in post 77 the OP asked about access presumably to the various oneworld lounges at LAX (AA/QF) when flying LAX-NAN on a BA marketed FJ operated flight as a BA GCH. My reading that this would give no access to a lounge at LAX.

When this was first announced, I had assumed that, for members of the sponsor airlines' FF programmes, FJ would in effect be treated like any other OW airline, while the members of the other airlines' FFs would just get the limited benefits. Instead, it seems I'd need another PhD to be able to understall all the different permutations of rules....

Just to add to that, AA customers could redeem for quite some time as FJ has been a partner airline, but that's restricted to some of the FJ routes only (e.g. NAN-CXI (yup, that's Kiritimati!) is OK, but NAN-HKG is not).

Never actually flew it though. Was meant to be WLG-NAN-HKG and the plane couldn’t land at WLG in the wind. Good (expensive) recovery: hotel overnight and rerouted on NZ.
FJ publish their award availability openly (eg on expert flyer) in U class at least, if it helps.

Has anyone redeemed any flights with Avios yet? I'm doing a significant South Pacific trip next year and this could conceivably save me 5-digits worth of fares....

I hadn't even considered that side of the issue. This whole thing seems so needlessly complicated.

Having two levels of oneworld membership already complicates things, and the lounge access policy and document being incredibly complicated won't help. While I feel that those who frequent flyertalk will be able to decipher it, it just seems like a recipe for confused/disappointed travelers who would think they would get lounge access/other perks but not actually be eligible.
