Children visiting cockpit before or after flight

Is this even allowed and if so, what is the best way to make a request?

My understanding is that it is, but is at the captain's discretion and generally they will try to accommodate. It is easier on a long haul arrival than a short haul with the turnaround, although the one time I requested this was on a short haul to Oslo.

I think the best way is to ask the cabin crew who will check with the flight deck and co-ordinate.

Yes, definitely allowed. Big kids are allowed too

I have generally found that speaking to the cabin crew is the best way. They will then speak to the flight crew. My step-daughter, on her first ever BA flight, visited the cockpit of the 747 we were flying on from PHX just before departure. The crew had finished most of their paperwork and pre-flight checks and were more than happy for her to visit the cockpit.

I have a great photo of my daughter sat in the FO seat complete with cap. I didn’t even ask but as we were in row one and we’re waiting to get off the Captain asked if we wanted to. I have ambitions on her becoming a pilot.

Thank you....if allowed it will be a great experience to see the A380 flight deck...at age 11 11 and 13 they have each flown around 15 LH between NA and the ME.

Is this more likely to be agreed if you're in F or CW rather than (gasp) WT?

Children? I've been known to do it myself on many occasions.

Usually on the A320, the first officer is stood by the door as you exit, so asking if you can pop in for a quick look is usually met with a positive response. Longhaul (or on a 767), ask one of the crew hanging around as you exit - they will phone the flight deck and ask - then take you up there.

Only time I went up there before departure was when I was in F on the A380 and there was a particularly chatty crew member - so I managed to slip it into the conversation, and again, no problems.

I did this after our flight on an A380 when we flew J for our honeymoon. Ask the CC and they should ask the flightdeck.

I plan to ask the same on the same after our First F on a 744 too!

Earlier this year we had a quite long ground delay at MLA, and to relieve stress the Captain invited anyone to visit the Flight Deck. I thought that was a severely GOOD idea.

On a recent flight from LA with the connecting flight upto Aberdeen l was bantering with the crew of the fact that this domestic flight took me to the giddy heights of Bronze. It was a quiet flight and the inteaction was good. They asked me to make sure l was the last passenger to disembark , as l made my way from the back the Cabin services manager Congratulated me on my elevation to Bronze and presented me with a small bottle of Fizz and we joked about a few things, the Pilot called out what all the excitement was about, and he was told that this flight took me into Bronze, He came out from the Cockpit and congratulated me , and asked did l want to see the Cockpit...like l needed a second offer, and he offered his seat, For a few minutes l was a child again, asked if he wouldn't object to taking a photo. l threw in that my last fligth was in First from Chicago two month ago and that l loved it, and was a big fan of BA .
When you get a good crew on BA it makes such a difference and l disembarked on cloud Nine .

I’ve been lucky enough to visit the flight on many occasions pre flight. Just ask the crew who in turn will ask the Captain and hopefully they’ll say yes.
