FT onesies? That would be something.

You can also customise hi-viz as well. We might need them!

The easiest way would be to set up something direct with a printer and then order individually rather than having to co-ordinate, unless there was a really good deal available to make it worth the hassle of somebody coordinating.

Excellent! It's a shame we can't fly from/to GVA for that trip; would have been fun!

And I just realized, we are flying to ZRH the same day, but I’m on LX, and I’m leaving a few hours before you.

Super impressed with the numbers for this Do, blows PHX out of the water (and that was fantastic)!

I've spoken to HIE to see what sort of 'express' check in they can help us with given so many of us will appear at once! As soon as I know more, I'll write it up.

I've also changed the Saturday night event options to help give an indication on numbers. Obviously certain groups/friends etc will want to have a smaller, more private dinner but for those who don't, please fill in the wiki or write here what you'd be up for (I know it's 3 months away but these things will take some planning and if numbers aren't there we'll have to rethink the plans...for example if there isn't a huge amount of interest for a pub crawl we can look at a single-location "party")

Any other thoughts are of course welcome

Merry Xmas!

Given the numbers involved (and having spoken with some of the other participants) I think it best that we simply arrange a venue/pub/bar and leave it at that. People can then do what they like but have a central point to meet and go to/from.

Having done a couple of Do’s, the meal idea is great, but is not the most sociable in a large group. And then there is always somebody who is left footing the bill when others don’t pay what they should. And YES I am the person who does not like splitting the bill to pay for somebody else ordering the most expensive items off the menu! There is also a huge issue if one of the flights is delayed and people don’t make it for a sit down meal. Or what if somebody doesn’t turn up? Most venues ask for a deposit for a meal. Who will pay this in advance or collect the money from others? Too much hassle. Let’s just go and enjoy ourselves without fretting about others.

PHX worked really well as there was a central venue and everybody could then do as they pleased knowing where they could meet up with others if they wished.

If some people want to arrange their own thing then that’s great.

Lol what a team player, not selfish at all

I’m more about inclusion and choice, especially for first-timers. With plenty of time to plan, let’s see what numbers look like and as I say in my message if the preference is one-location there is nothing stopping us from doing that at all. Your preference is duly noted!

Hi madfish,

Firstly thanks you for starting this thread for the Do and sharing lots of useful information!

I am not sure you or any of us expected the numbers to get to c70?!

I know you mentioned in an early post that this is not an organised Do and of course people will do whatever they want while in GIB.

However, I do think that there may be some who would appreciate some suggested/possible options, and at this early stage, getting a feel for preferences to help identify possible options is surely a good thing? This may particularly apply to Do first timers (I think there are quite a few?) as well as for those who have not been to GIB before, and especially for those who may not know many people or anyone at all.

I think it was good of TPRun to take this early initiative and seek peoples’ thoughts in order to help make the event fun and welcoming for all, especially any nervous first timers!

I completely agree that organising and paying for meals can be difficult (most especially for large numbers and with those who feel uninhibited with ordering if subsidised by others ) so that may well be too big a challenge for a large number.

Perhaps a list of some possible restaurant options might be good for smaller groups? Also, identifying in advance those who would like to eat a nice meal and not just get by on a bag of chips (!!) and lots of drinks may help those people interested in dining to identify fellow diners and then they can make arrangements with each other directly.

Having a main location if at all possible is a great plan, for people to join whenever it suits them, and is really what makes a Do IMHO, assuming finding a large place for c70 exists! I am sure TPRun or you will try to find one and I am very happy to help too with any arrangements - just let me know.

Let’s see what the feedback is and take it from there?

Just to be a pain, mrs rapidex and I will go with the flow. Happy for a pub meet or dinner. Preferably somewhere to get KARFA pi$$ed and watch the fallout that follows. We must make sure he catches his flight this time though.

Thanks @rapidex. I’m sure something can be arranged, but getting @KARFA to open his wallet may be even against your talents.

I’m currently liasing with some others regarding putting together some ideas and suggestions. Hopefully will have more ideas/information in the New Year. If anybody would like to contribute please contact me by PM to as ve clogging up the group with mundane discussion points. Also, possibly setting up a whatsapp group for those who wish to participate in sharing ideas.

Wishing you all a very merry Christmas.

My parents and I would be interested in a group dinner, if one is arranged, but we are also able to go with the flow! It’s not our first DO, but I don’t think we know many of you BA folks
