Butternut squash at M&S T5

So I’ve got an unusual one for the BA regulars.

I am flying with BA from Heathrow to Munich, and need to bring with me a butternut squash (yes really!)

is this something I can purchase at M&S in the arrivals part of T5?

I don't think that M&S sells that sort of loose fruit & veg, except maybe apples and bananas. They are all about the cooked foods or the ready to cook prepared ingredients in a plastic package.

The nearest place to Heathrow that I can think of to get such a thing is the Tesco at Hatton Cross, it's about 15 minutes' walk from the Hatton Cross tube.

I'm pretty sure the Edeka in the Central Area is open on Sundays. "Every day from 5:30am to 22:00".

No, they don't do that kind of loose produce.

If it helps there's a Tesco Superstore at Hatton Cross and apparently the 490 bus goes directly there from T5 stand 7 to stop "Central Way" which is right outside Tesco.

Thanks all, I will not have time to source one in Munich so will make sure I arrive at Heathrow with one.

Presumably there will be no issues with security at T5 / and arrivals in Munich?

I thought many borders had issues with bringing in fresh produce. However am speaking from a position of relative ignorance as I don't remember ever trying it. Brought some vacuum sealed Jamon back from Spain once, but as it was vacuum sealed I don't recall even declaring it...

I'm struggling to think of a stranger thread on here.

But, of course we will still need to know the outcome....

Agreed.

OP, why do you need to bring it? An important recipe?

I was in M&S there on Monday and they do have some fruit and veg. I bought sweet peppers and cucumber among other things. Didn't notice Butternuts so why not call them:

No issues as within the EU.

A Simply Food M&S in an airport/station environment won’t stock butternut squash.

I always take a pile of cheese and ham sandwiches with me when I go abroad. You just can’t trust foreign food (nor the water of course).

I don’t actually know why, I am on a stag do and the best man has assigned me the job of bringing one along with us, amongst other things, I assume the reason for bringing it will be revealed over the course of the weekend, much to the horror of the unfortunate stag...

It’s a shame you aren’t travelling in F as this would be a worthwhile challenge for the concierge...
