Would love to know if she is GGL herself, otherwise why would she get such treatment?

Her Daughters are still Royal Family....they were at the wedding, along with her but higher up the list. She may well still be afforded the courtesy of treatment as a royal family member, BA may well do the same it seems.

The Royal Family, no matter how far down the succession, would seem to be likely to be afforded Premium status .., otherwise some of them would fly VS

For those who query the cost of the Monarch as head of state at Ł35.7m in 2014 maybe shocked to know the French President cost their taxpayers Ł91m and the Italian a whopping Ł181.5m for the same period. The cost per resident is 56p, Ł1.43 and Ł3.08 respectively.

Seeing the way she walked to the Church in Windsor, I would expect special services where actually helping you out.

I sat next to the Duchess of York a couple of years ago in First on AA from New York to London - she was escorted on board just before doors closed. I was in 1A and she was across the aisle. Have to say I found her very nice, we had a chat about gin.

That's just the civil list / sovereign grant amount. What isn't included are the significant policing and security costs or the costs within government departments such as Foreign Office and Ministry of Defence.

Also the French President does a lot more official international travel than the Royal family due to his holding executive powers so even then it's not a direct comparison unless you include the costs of the UK Prime Minister in the calculations

Without those it is impossible to do a like for like comparison.

Of course the president with the best and yugest costs is across the pond ...

This cousin would agree - come back George III, all is forgiven!

Well apparently Harry’s wife prefers AC over BA. Just read over at View from the Wing that she flew on AC from LHR back to YYZ.

Interesting piece in the BBC today. It does make you wonder if the royal family is deliberately avoiding to fly BA.

Ok this is a bit of conjecture, but generally speaking I get the impression that both the senior royals and senior politicians are using scheduled public transport slightly less.

I’m guessing a few things have aligned to make that happen. The availability of the RAF Voyager fleet compared to the old VC10s must definitely be a factor, as is the unavailability of Concorde. Generally speaking security threats have increased at the same time as airports and commercial flights have got busier; in turn both of these things mean more disruption for other passengers. Finally in the age of social media in alerting the whole world to the presence of someone on public transport presumably makes keeping them safe trickier too.
