Arriving on a domestic flight: how much time to get out of the airport?

Hi

Looking to book a flight MAN-LHR and then take a coach. Any idea how much time I should allow to get from the plane to the coach stop in front of T5?

Depends which runway you land... and if it’s a bus or jetty

It's a distance of I would guess 350 metres from the main domestic gates to the National Express coach stops. It should take only about 5 to 10 minutes, depending on the arriving gate and assuming hand baggage only. Add another 10 minutes or so for checked baggage. It takes a bit longer if you are unlucky and get a bus arrival into T5, perhaps another 10 minutes there. Basically you end up at the northern end of T5 on the arrivals level, which is the same level as the National Express (assuming this is the provider concerned) and their stops start half-way down the building, on the other side of Costa Coffee, and continue southwards.

The runway you land on has got nothing to do with how long it will take to get out of the terminal building after the flight's arrival. The flight doesn't arrive until the aircraft has stopped taxying and applied the parking brakes. The scheduled time of arrival is exactly that, not the scheduled time of landing (which doesn't really exist).

Done it many times - no bags? 3-5 minutes if near the front of the aircraft (after jetty on which is usually very quick these days) or nearer 10 if towards the back.
Small chance of being bussed in might take it to 15. Longest ever was 25 minutes when the bus was held up by aircraft waiting at HANLI for take off queue 09R.
