Some people really like to say tarmac.

Passengers on the tarmac! Better? :D

Fire alarms seem to be relatively frequent at LCY, no? IIRC there was one ~ 6 months ago.

This can be extremely bad news since once there are a lot of people on the apron/ramp - and that is the standard protocol at LCY - then the Border Force tends to want everyone to clear the UK Border and departing passengers to go through security a second time (with the liquids issues that arise). I don't know if it happened here, but it depends on whether arriving and departing passengers have ended up being mixed together.

It's probably the "ill advised paid upgrade to Club Europe" klaxon going off again. Big problem at LCY.

DesertNomad May 16, 2018 2:04 pm

I'm a pilot and I'd call that a ramp.

The US, and while I have not flown in the UK or Europe, I have flow in the Americas and Africa. I still call it a ramp. :D

Yup, the ICAO calls it an apron, but I've never heard that used by any tower or ground controller in the US.

The folks from Londonist were making a Youtube viata few months ago that that was disrupted by a fire alarm:
