However the plane was tired and shabby, with a lav which repeatedly blocked, worn and lumpy seating with collapsed foams, screens on a par with the old BA 744 IFE, the wifi didn't work, and several seats had collapsed tray tables. Anyhow, we're into thread drift.

I must say it has to be the Executive Club FF program it's definitely one of the best ways of attaining and retaining status I have come across (in terms of ease)
I also like the fact I can get direct flights as I hate layovers but that's geographical luck, either way BA is a respectable brand and wherever there is a problem or a major issue they are always proactive to make sure everything is sorted and what I see to be ahead of other airline sometimes.
The old crew are great (Sorry I don't know the proper name) I think it's Long Haul and Short Haul or something - Always professional and smile and courteous and take their job with pride.I do hope the younger Mixed Fleet crew grow to this in the long run, it's tiring sometimes hearing them talk more about what they're doing on their layover than doing what they are employed for.
The again, we are all human. Keep going BA! (and bring some of that class back! )

Same as others here:
- staff (except dodgy non-ba staff at check-in in foreign airports)
- cityflyer / LCY for the legroom, food and no stress airport.
- BAEC, great loyalty scheme which helps me save (Avios) and make long haul travel easier by enabling me achieve Club when my wallet is usually firmly in WTP+

I have to agree that it's the crew for me. On my recent flight to LIN, had a brief chat with the CSM whilst waiting for the loo. Assuring me that he would refill my champagne while I was 'busy', he also informed me that I was on an unique flight as out of the 20 CE pax I was the only one drinking alcohol. This, was first for him on an Italy flight!
That's what makes the difference.
