Limiting BA First redemptions for BA GOLD+
An idea has been brewing in minds of some of us, but I shall not name my accomplices for they would be lynched when caught, to limit the F redemptions to Gold members or higher (We are feeling generous today, on any other day we would suggest GGL+). This move would align us with AF and LX, both perfectly acceptable carriers in F cabin, and would also ensure we get our preferred cabin more often.
The final straw for me to start this thread is my booking for Miami in December when I had to use a joker just to get a seat, because most F cabin on morning BA207 is taken (whilst 1A+K are empty)...
Would esteemed members of community agree?

Nufnuf was setting it a little lower by allowing it for mere golds. We should be grateful for that.
Perhaps rather than a limit on non-golds perhaps additional gold only availability across all redemptions and cabins would be nice.

I'm assuming you are working on the assumption that because 1A+K are empty the existing seats have been booked by non-Gold (or above) card holders? If so, I think your assumption is flawed. Not everyone likes those seats and may well prefer to select other seat pairs/options in the cabin.

I think it very unfair to restrict First redemptions to Gold and above. Even if BA introduced such a requirement it wouldn’t automatically mean availability would have appeared for your MIA flight.

Life is unfair We know MIA availability might not be changed, but this has been on our minds for longer, we could perhaps include poor silvers in on the deal, but line must be drawn somewhere...

Wait until dynamic pricing arrives, you might find only Gold and above can afford it then!
