British airways: 100 years in the sky [UK Channel 5]
I noticed this is on Channel 5 next week 1 May at 21.00 for the people in the UK.
British Airways: 100 Years in the Sky - Channel 5
British Airways: 100 Years in the Sky - what time is it on TV? Episode 1 Series 1 cast list and preview.
Part one of a two-part documentary charting the history of the airline from the first flight in 1919 to the present day. It begins with the early years of passenger air travel, and looks at the first companies and passengers who braved open cockpits, wicker chairs and no on-board toilets.

BA one hour advert last night
I am surprised that no one has commented on the one hour advert for BA last night on Channel 5 covering the first 50 years of the company's history. A very jolly programme. I was particularly nice to see a time when the scruffs did not fly and all passengers were properly dressed. Looking forward to the second instalment next week.
Also shocked to see that a thread has been closed about clubs. One of the joys of Flyertalk for me was the absents of nanny control. Clearly I was mistaken.
I did want to add that the Foreign Correspondent's Club in HK. A very jolly place and as you would expect from a club for journalists, it has one dining room and 3 bars.

Indeed 'jolly' is just how I would have put it. A fairly inoffensive look back to the days when airlines were innovative, a singleticket to Paris was GBP9 (twice the weekly wage apparently) and many airlines really were premium.
Let's see what next week brings.

Inoffensive and thin, IMO. The leap from WW1 to WW2 and then into the 50’s was a bit sad.
The inter-War years, and the immediate post-WW2, deserved a bit more coverage than they got.

It’s now available on catchup on Demand on 5.
I found the commentary reassuringly and quintessentially British - that note of quiet but misplaced superiority that is so BA - but overall it was quite enjoyable and informative.
The more interesting part was the hint of what might be to come from the interviewees - of whom Eric Moody, the captain of BA9 which lost all four engines flying through a Jakarta dust cloud in 1982 and landed safely, seemed the most likely to portray a good story.

That’s what I often wear to travel as most of my flights are work related and I will be wearing the suit to meetings. Got to project a good image as I’m representing the company.
The programme was a reasonable way to pass an hour with lots of lovely footage of aeroplanes. Both Mrs. N. and I both repeatedly exclaimed “look at the space”, not something you hear these days on the Airbus fleet.
