New FCO lounge opened today

The family and I managed to luck out today to the opening of the new BA lounge here in Rome.
I’m not one for photo taking but snapped a couple of quick shots on my phone - how do I post them?

key take outs so far:
staffed bar replaces self serve (correction - appears not)
doesn’t appear to follow any existing BA style
food offering improved but broadly the same.
Has a view of the apron. Certainly brighter but it feels smaller than the old lounge
location is “E” on the first floor
pop out charge points at every seat (mine is broken in the down position)
coffee machines out of order
no in lounge washrooms

Hi,

Did you happen to notice how accessible it is with a wheelchair? In the old lounge you had to use the very slow and inconvenient stairlift as there was no elevator route.
Cheers
Steve

I think the whole first floor (which includes various f&b outlets and the plaza premium lounge next door) is lift accessible. Lounge is all on one levelhttps://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...3dd79bade.jpeg

Also lucked out today in the new lounge. was HBO and signage was poor..ended up at the old lounge before turning around. The new lounge is wheelchair accessible...its in the new part of the terminal upstairs by the food court.

I take it back. The bar is self serve. It just isn’t laid out in a way to make that obvious. Especially on opening day when there are extra staff making drinks.

Biggest down from me would would be the lack of toilets.
Food - at least on opening, is much improved.

It looks unusually stylish and contemporary for a BA lounge!

Hi again,

Thanks for the good news about accessibility.
Cheers

Press release and more photos here: British Airways - WHEN IN ROME LOUNGE IN LUXURY

Fontana Apr 16, 2018 5:47 am

According to the BA Media Centre, it says "During peak times the bar will be hosted by a mixologist enabling customers to sit back and relax as their drink is made to order". Does "peak times" mean every BA flight?

It certainly is a major upgrade compared to before.

Blast, I knew I shouldn't have opted to join today's meeting in Rome via videoconference! :-)

Looks nice, the new BA design language for lounges is then basically a QF/CX J lounge mash-up.

So the lounge language of the Singapore lounge is gone now?

Many thanks for the photo and insight Lenis, it certainly looks impressive, albeit with some day 1 snags.

It certainly appears to be the case, judging from the photo above and the 10 photos in the Mediacentre link. SIN, BHD (ish), EDI, GLA, IAD, AMS, CPT, BOS, LGW are the new lounges, and follow a common design, and by the time they got to BOS and LGW I thought they had got a really good lounge product. So much so that the lack of a Flounge in BOS isn't a big issue. This design is totally different (as stated in the press release) and I wonder why they changed it, the previous design was a good one in my view.

Coming up we have ABZ (next month), GVA, MAN, ORD, SFO, JNB, MIA and JFK. This will leave just NCL as the only old "old" lounge in the UK, though it is a good offering thanks to being well looked after.
