Will I lose 1A?

Hi

Booked in F later in May LHR to JNB on the 747 service, so as Gold grabbed 1A to experience ‘the nose’.

However my Gold expires on 30 April, and I only did enough last year for Silver from 1 May.

Will I be bumped from 1A as a result of the status change?

Thanks in advance.

Unsure if the "sweep" still happens and if you'll be booted out, I would probably take 2A/K if solo travelling - I find these seats fairly exposed to the opposing seat 1 occupant

This happened to one of my employees a few years ago; yes, you will be booted from 1A if the "sweep" happens.

Take 2A now, watch the seating very carefully near checkin, grab 1A if still available.

Or get yourself over to the TP run thread and get Gold before then

I agree with mikeyfly that 1A is not very private in relation to 1K. Yes the 1A experience is pretty unique but if travelling alone I agree that 2A/2K offer a better option.

I would characterise it as a possibility if the flight is at the start of May, a probability from mid May, but not a certainty for any date. If your second best seat is available, I would go for that instead and then try to get 1A from T-72 hours onwards, but not before.

Avoid row 1 in a 747. Row 2 A/K are far better.

Now I'm having second thoughts on some seat reservations I have!
