Not sure but she was insistent that CE and Gold did not equate to Fast Track! Unfortunately because we were bussed from our aircraft we had no choice but go landslide - I had time, it was just a bit annoying!

Good news is I am now sat on aircraft heading South again - not sure if my warsaw flight tomorrow is such a good idea!!

Almost 13 years of flying (not frequently) and I have had my first cancelled flight. Was suppose to be doing a short day trip to MAD on BA460 on a 787 and back to LHR a few hours later!

Just landed at LBA on the eveninf rotation. Very very poor visibility right up to touch down. The crew did really well there

right till the last minute I was praying we wouldnt be rerouted to MAN or NCL. Didnt fancy a train/bus ride on a Fri eve !

i am sat on the same plane just about to head south. A lot busier than normal as there are quite a few people who have been waiting at lba since early afternoon. The vis was a lot worse earlier hence aks120ís diversion. Nothing was landing. Unfortunately the wind favours runway 14 but thatís only cat1 so needs much higher visibility and isnít equipped to do an autloand.

Autloand can be done on other runway 32 so if the wind was from a different direction the earlier flight should have made it in.

I think madfish said I did 11 or 12 rotations in the hold - we were there for over an hour - 4 min holds would prob take it to more like 15 or 16 times round.

I avoided the prawn salad despite being asked multiple times if I wanted it - but had an average glass of white wine (apparently the white wine is from Alex Cruzís brothers vineyard according to galley FM).

All dealt with well by BA though - I quickly changed my flight back to go from NCL not LBA despite being tempted with a flight with karfa

Allís well that ends welll - but I think I will not tempt fate and try Warsaw over the weekend - I have done enough diverting! Twice in 4 months for me!

Looks like the cancellations so far are shorthaul, although the BA 179 to JFK on Saturday showing as cancelled is making me twitch a little

What should I do?

So, here was my plan:

Sunday 18 March:
1. BA1435 EDI-LHR **PNR 1**
2. AY1332 LHR-HEL **PNR 1**
3. QR308 HEL-DOH **PNR 2**
Tuesday 20 March
4. QR836 DOH-BKK **PNR 2**
5. CX712 BKK-HKG **PNE 3**

So, EDI-LHR is cancelled. I don't know what to do -- should I rebook for overnight at LHR on Saturday 17 March, overnight at HEL on 17th March or push for same day departures and push all segments 1-3 on the same day as planned?

Also, will I be able to claim from Amex (BAPP) for the overnight hotel costs? Does duty of care from BA apply which would give me a hotel room or be reimbursed after?

A fortnight ago, my wife got on her LBA-LHR flight after spending all week thinking her annual trip to Canada would be canceled (the previous 4 days were canceled) and I breathed a sigh of relief thinking that was the end of that.

Just over 2 hours ago she received an email saying her return LHR-LBA leg is canceled tomorrow morning and call the airline. She does and BA say it's not their responsibility because her first flight is with Air Canada (YYZ-LHR). She then calls Air Canada who say because she bought the ticket from a travel agent and not from the airline, it's nothing to do with them and call the travel agent. You know what is coming next, she then calls the travel agent and they say it's the airline's responsibility. She asks them which one and they reply BA because they are the airline who has canceled the flight.

Assuming the YYZ-LHR flight doesn't also get canceled between now and 4am, I am tempted to jump on an early train, meet her at Terminal 2 and we simply get the train back to York. That is unless anyone posts a better idea between now and 4am !!

Personally I would tell her to do nothing with the UK legs now, fly to LHR, go to T5, see if they can send her to MAN or NCL instead and then she should get the train to York. Both airports have easy connections to York, MAN has a direct hourly service from the airport station. Failing that, she should go to Kings Cross as a fallback.

Yes, I would go to LHR on Saturday, book a hotel after the hotel is sorted, BA should cover that but Amex is a good fallback. Then keep going East as best you can. Goodness people have very complicated bookings around here!

C-W-S You are king of all kings! I shall follow your guidance and probably book a nice hotel at Heathrow and claim back later.

Suppose I can claim for an extra day of parking yeah?

Not from BA, no, that's always regarded as consequential. Take the bus/tram? Not sure I'd want to be driving around EDI tomorrow frankly.

Was on tomorrow's cancelled BA1445, was auto-rebooked onto later BA1449 with a much tighter (35 minute) connection onwards from LHR. Shame, had been planning to try out the new plaza premium lounge in T5. Let's hope this is as bad as the consequences get!

No notification email or SMS though! Only noticed from compulsively checking the app.
