Thanks ... although I now see the inbound is carrying a 1h 30m delay inbound from LCY, and not arriving until 2030 Oh, well, nothing I can do except hope

EDIT = We seem to be in a weather sandwich right now! https://www.gov.je/Weather/Pages/Radar.aspx

Which has knock-on results for the return flight AY1338 1805 LHR-HEL which is delayed until 1930, and is presumably a feeder flight for the far east flights later tonight

What happens in these situations? Presumably the HEL departures won't wait that long for the late incoming passengers, or are there too many of them to leave behind? And in some cases the next option is 24hrs away and already busy

I ask with a vested interest in the outcome.....

depends where you are going exactly, but have you asked the CX lounge agents about rerouting on CX/JL direct Fromm LHR if you are going to miss your AY connection at HEL?

It has started to snow again at LHR, a very fine dusting (at the moment)

and now almost a fog like freezing soup. Sitting in T5 quite a few planes turned back for de-icing. Current take off queue is only 3 planes! So I would expect further delays in LHR. A plane in gate 22 waiting for pushback more than 10 min. Then I guess they waiting for de-icing as well.

I've been watching for proactives for Monday, and nothing come through yet. I am not sure I agree with you here, it's better to have pro-actives and given a bit of time to resolve issues while the contact centre is open rather than deal with turmoil on the day. For all the reports in this thread, it's as of nothing when cancellations get forced on the day.

Hi cws ... I agree, better to find out now. Have been proactively monitoring my flights. So far no changes, but as it’s EU flight, who knows.

Thanks

Thanks (wasn't me, but a colleague I am due to meet). Journey is LHR-HEL-HKG. Apparently CX were completely unhelpful and said that only Finnair could help, and only after arrival in HEL.

A quick pro-active call to Finnair got a seat on the direct LHR-HKG with BA later this evening. Excellent work by AY.

Well, my aircraft has just pushed back. My colleague on the much earlier BA115 is still in the lounge as that has been delayed until 2000.

we are on our way to de-icing stand "Jedi" before takeoff.

The comic relief safety video is working perfectly unfortunately.

The aircraft I’m sitting in is being de-iced as I type. We’re still on stand (C64)

Another light dusting in East London. lHR have just issued an updated weather warning which is the same in so far as some flights are being consolidated.

Mrs rapidex is on that flight in a weeks time, with a 55 minute connection to BKK. Last time she missed a connection with Finnair they put her in a hotel, paid her expenses and gave her an 800 Euro voucher instead of 600 Euro cash.
