The fare between LCY and LHR is £3.10 today, or £1.50 if you go via the North London line (probably not the day to try this though!).

Usually BA's reaction is that indeed since you chose this course of action, effectively changing the ticket routing, then that's for your own account. The actual wording of EC261 uses the word "offers", so I don't think it's as clear-cut as BA imagines.

When, in the case where a town, city or region is served by several airports, an operating air carrier offers a passenger a flight to an airport alternative to that for which the booking was made, the operating air carrier shall bear the cost of transferring the passenger from that alternative airport either to that for which the booking was made, or to another close-by destination agreed with the passenger.

great, thanks.

Getting to the M3 will be my biggest challenge. 4 to 5 inches of snow in my garden, and a car not suited to these conditions!

View on landing an hour ago was identical to the December fiasco, about the same light coating of snow on the ground and planes parked overnight. But they seem to have planned this time and most of the long hauls are operating, including my connection to NBO. Really cold on the bus transfer to T3!

I'm not far from LHR. Weather is cold but no snow - roads are totally clear - even side roads are OK. No further intensive snow forecast - could be the odd flurry.

DUB closed for a runway & taxiway sweep until at least 10am. Snowing very heavily.

Impressed its so cheap.

Another question. Our LCY flight is now showing a 2h delay.

Howcan I find out where this flight is coming in from as the app says it’s die to a late arriving plane.

Im booked on the 1330 MAN to LCY service.

Open again. Staff doing a trojan effort in terrible conditions. Unfortunately the usual de-icing truck delays are hampering departures.

they are fine. M40 was a bit hairy last night at 2am after reaching the suburbs but I just took it slow. Side roads slippery but main roads are fine. I think that’s the end of winter then!

From what I can see, the aircraft is already in MAN having landed last night (early!) from SZG:
https://www.flightradar24.com/data/aircraft/g-lcyo

But this may change, I wonder if it is due to flow management into LCY or avoiding a particularly nasty slug of weather.

That fare is for DLR and tube, it would be more expensive on HEX but would only save a few minutes.

The aircraft does a charter to CMF on Sunday mornings, but left over 2hrs late today due issues at MAN.

Just thought I would add a footnote to my wife's return from Canada which should have included the final leg of LHR-LBA which BA canceled.

As I previously mentioned late on Friday evening, my wife was given the run around on who sorts out rebooking the aforementioned leg with originally a BA Call Centre (apparently in India) claiming that it wasn't their responsibility. However, after speaking to Air Canada, she called back BA and this time managed to get through to someone who was a bit more professional and was rebooked onto a Sunday flight which wasn't convenient but was offered no alternative. It was then I spoke to her and told her to call BA back and ask to fly to Manchester or Newcastle on Saturday, which she did and initially they refused so she demanded to speak to a supervisor. That brought about the offer to put her on the Saturday's BA 1334 LHR-NCL flight but then the agent demanded she must pay because he was classing this as a rebooking. The wife then insisted on speaking to his supervisor and eventually after being on hold for 15 minutes, a supervisor took over the call and processed the rebooking as a "gesture of goodwill".

The "fun" didn't stop there as I decided to get the train up to Newcastle to meet her only to find the Metro wasn't serving the airport because a tree had come down on the overhead power lines and we eventually made it back home just before 9pm.

Both the LHR flights are showing as full, but the seat maps show multiple empty seats - may be worth asking if you can swap once they close the check-in

Thanks for reporting back, and at least you're home and warm, I don't think today is a good day for getting out and about either.

Hello family!
Situation: I had a connecting flight ARN-LHR-LGW-BCN

LGW-BCN just now got cancelled so I am currently stranded in Heathrow.

My question is: Flights that are cancelled today is because of Weather or because of logistics?
The weather here now is fine.

I ask because of compensation, etc.

there are seats in J and Y on BA486 at 1630. Any reason they won’t rebook you on that?

EDIT: in fact if you do go on that LHR flight you would arrive in BCN only 5 minutes later than you would have done from LGW. So no need to worry about compensation or getting yourself from LHR to LGW.
