Welcome to Flyertalk and the BA forum, and what a good way to join up, via a Do. Welcome on board B3rad and I hope you enjoy the flight as much as I did.

Even persuaded Mrs Starship73 to come so got her a ticket too! Hoping to get into WTP cabin at some point but currently blocked.
Not the only one now! Let's hope its a good one. Glad I accidentally gave myself an extra hour for a connection in MAD and picked the 6:20 instead of 7:20 departure. Going to be an early start.

Well, not everyone may wish to say where they are sat as BA may link FT handle to real name but for those that would like to add their seat number (and optionally BAEC status) I can happily do a seat map graphic for the CE cabin and some of the ET cabin (ET is too big to do in entirety but happy to see how it can be done)...

One could simply have a list if that is all that is desired but if you want a graphic, this may be a starting point?

Not a bad idea. Or just a simple roll call on board? Oh cringe forget I said that.

imagine most will see a gaggle in the lounge at 4S and put 2 and 2 together and get 22 and the odd +1

Just got off the 464. Overall, impressed- but not life changing. Basically what AA have had for 5+ years (?) on their 773s but more tastefully executed and with the addition of a door.

One big big downside is the WiFi. It seems to be a second rate, data limited offering. Very disappointing, my iPad uses 25Mb within a minute or two of being switched on...

can’t get the screencap to upload but was:

25Mb Ł4.99
75Mb Ł11.99
150Mb Ł17.99

like the old Iberia setup.

But why on the A350 has BA swapped? It’s normally two speeds, one messaging and one streaming, with fairly reasonably higher data caps on their other aircraft. More “enhancements”?

You may want to look at the way your iPad is set up. I purchased the 25mb package on my Tuesday flight as the first opportunity, contributed 7 posts to FT from the A350, including some photo uploads, checked the news and email, and still had 4mb left as we approached London. The mb counter dropped smoothly downwards (I use compression on VPN) and then as we went from 12,000 feet to 10,000 feet the mb turned to "only >1 minute left". I do quite a fair bit of aviation wifi use and so I've done things like restricted the settings for software upgrades, Spotify and Google updates, which sneak under general wifi usage.

With FT what I found was that if you stayed with the forum it was quick slick and easy to use, but there was a bit of a latency check if jumping between websites.

..fair enough but I don’t like living in a restricted world especially when paying a fair price. That is nowhere near enough data for a long haul flight @ Ł17.99 price tag. 1.5 hrs to Madrid maybe. The “stream” service on the retrofitted WiFi is perfect, shame that it hasn’t been used on the 350. I wonder why.

This is actually downgrade from is/was offered on other aircraft. Here's an example from a short haul, text package:

And browse/stream package:

I thought data limits were thing of the past...

Booked on BA464/465 on Saturday, but in Y. It's Ł84 in travelup, for some reason I can't book on BA (those who did, there is still time to do a best price guarantee if you visit travelup and take a couple of screenshots).

Hopefully someone will send some champagne back, but I'll not be on the sauce as driving (unless there's someone coming up the A23 corridor or back who can give me a lift in return for, err, LPGS somewhere at LHR).

The system on the A350 is by Panasonic, it's the only WiFi option offered by Airbus and BA wanted it to have WiFi from day one rather than retrofitting.

I think the 787-10's are being delivered with the same limited system.

Virgin have this Panasonic system on all their 787's and will.benin their A350's too.

Generally, how many days before the flight does the equipment change to A351?

Approx (or just after) 1000 UTC, 1100 BST 3 days prior to flight. This seems to be independent on whether you are on 456/457 or 464/465.
