Nope. There is chart in the thread showing potential days & times. The 777 is 1320 departure which will still operate as normal. The A350 flights will still show as A319/320/321 until nearer the time.

I can see the 1320 on 5th with 777 BA460.

Do you know if the flight is indeed one way only, is the A350 flying back as the 461 for regular bookings? Or would it stay and fly back in another slot?

Hoping you can shed some light on these aspects without breaching any agreements?

Useful for the calendar to know what to put there (just the 460 or both 460/461 as well as for those wanting to get into Club if they were to position to MAD earlier in the day and come back on the first CW/CE flights...

Thanks for whatever you can provide say (maybe I'm reading too much into what is not said in your post!)

Safe travels.
There is a party in Madrid on Monday night.

The official return flight is the 12.10 on Tuesday (459). However, this flight is on general sale and there is NO indication that this is A350. It may be a standard A321. A lot of people will ask to return earlier / later I'm sure.

Not clear what is happening to the A350 - perhaps it will stick around overnight for the return?

Looking at the Monday return flight on ExpertFlyer (BA461 on 05/08), the two business/club cabins (still showing as a 777) show as fully occupied/blocked on the seat map. Perhaps allowing for a good number of people to do a b2b? Showing no J availability either.

Updated post1 FAQ, the wiki and the calendars (post 207) on the thread given the latest news about the press flight and what we currently know!...Please let me know if you see any mistakes or missing points and I'll amend, thanks!

So, to add to the anticipation, thus far, the numbers:

26 days until the first A350 training flight (the BA Press flight) will occur. (5th Aug.) and you can get on that in ET (outbound, not sure about the return)

Over the two months (52 days) the training flights are thought to be scheduled to occur, at least one FTer is on the route 30 days out of that period.
Days where there are still no FTers booked: 22 days, dates are:
  • 12/14th Aug,
  • 23rd Aug.
  • 26th Aug.
  • 30 Aug.
  • 1 through 6th Sept
  • 8/9 Sept.
  • 13th Sept.
  • 16/17 Sept.
  • 19/20 Sept.
  • 23 Sept.
  • 25 Sept.
  • 27/28 Sept.

*Days will no training planned not counted above.

Feel like joining in? 40 FTers have booked so far…The party plane so far is on the 10th Aug. and is the 465 return flight from MAD...(6 FTers onboard)

Safe travels everyone.

Just booked the following using Avios for 14th September:
Outbound: BA0458 in ET (I know this isn't a A350 but unfortunately with other constraints on my schedule, couldn't manage a convenient time + price for me to get one in both directions)
Inbound: BA0465 in CE

Really looking forward to it - hope to see some of you there!

tilal6991 I just updated the wiki to put your flights in. I'm on the 465 back with you. I was tempted to take the 777 service out that day but I went hardcore and booked the early 456 to get the A350 both ways. I chose a weekend to do this so I could get the night tube Piccadilly line out, no fancy LHR hotel stays for me. Limited avios supply here!

Very similar with me - bit cash poor ATM after a bunch of other trips being booked so no hotel stay possible for me. Sadly 456 was gone - I would have toughed it out if necessary - and I did want to have a good day trip to Madrid (didn't want to get in too late) so had to go for the 458.

Will catch you in the tail-end of the lounge on the way out possibly and certainly on the way back!

Do you think the press flight and the flights on the 6th will be cancelled if the Heathrow strike goes ahead?

Thinking of doing 14/09 outbound, 15/09 inbound... it would be my first experience of business class.

Welcome Hawker_Hunter, Welcome to the BAEC forum. While this thread very good to keep you up to date on A350 movements and meet ups, do check out the wiki for more general information.

Your views on business class may be skewed by club suite on the A350!!
