A significant and welcome new route - and notably not just another US destination.

I imagine some will moan about the daytime return but this is obviously more fleet efficient than the JNB/CPT schedules and hopefully proves sustainable.

I spent some time in Durban and the Midlands / KwaZulu Natal (the surrounding region) last year and it was truly fantastic. I’d highly recommend a trip down there. ^

(Have also pinged a note to the mods to update the thread title now it’s confirmed.)

Not great timings, the LHR-DUR flight with the 2-hour time difference will be 03:35 UK time, I wounder if they will be waking people up for breakfast at 01:35 UK time

At least immigration at Durban is quiet, and it only has 4/5 international flights/day, and none are that early in the morning

What will the aircraft do on the other four days of the week?
Poor timings though.

I feel that the addition of this route has really shown BA's investment (even if subsidised in some way) to South Africa. For me this is quite exciting, and I hope this extends to other African cities as economies improve (personally hoping for Entebbe, Harare and Windhoek - though this is for purely selfish reasons). I also am excited for another non-USA route!

Quite excited to see this, as Durban is my hometown. Takes me back to seeing friends depart or arrive on BA in Durban.

Must St confess that I do not actually visit that much anymore, but am visiting again in December.

Unfortunately flights already booked, and going via Joburg on BA.

good addition, I wonder if it will have the same heavy discounts as JNB when you start from AMS?

Nice to see a new route that isn't to the USA, however the flight times are pretty ugly!

Presumably each r/t is one aircraft with back-to-back in Durban? i.e. only really 'idle' on a Wednesday at LHR.
