This is true! I think that the T3 bars are helping them through it! I will definitely have to refresh EU261 as he has already he will want me to submit the claim on his behalf!

Don't put a lot of time into this until after the aircraft arrives. It departed 3:35 late from LHR and could easily make that up 35 minutes enroute to CPT. If arrival is at 3+, it's EUR 300 and at 4+, it's EUR 600.
The GBP 5 meal voucher seems a bit stingy because the delay occurred over meal time (18:10 to 21:45). Presumably your father had to eat anyway, so submitting his receipt for the overage won't hurt.

It was bad when we were there in November, heard talk of the city 'running out' in the next month or so!
The fligjt ended up 3hr 35 min delayed upon landing at CPT. Once they are back we can start the EU261 process, but as mentioned above BA may have ATC issues account for 36 minutes and hence no compensation! Ah well, the main thing is that they can enjoy their holiday!

Based on what?
The flight departed 3:35 late and arrived 3:37 late, so it lost 2 minutes on an 11+ hour flight which is insignificant. It shows a taxi time of 20 minutes on departure from LHR, which is entirely normal. But, even if the 20 minutes is all considered an ATC delay (which is ridiculous), there would still have been a delay of 3:17 on arrival and that still qualifies for 50% compensation or EUR 300.
