Many regard the seat maps on thebasource as being significantly more accurate than those that exist elsewhere on sites such as seatguru etc. It is also a useful reference tool and the data it accumulates gets better over time.
One of the sites I visit most regular.

As with ba97.com, I'm just regularly grateful that someone designs and builds such websites ... and launches them for free.
A more constructive hobby than many, I suggest

For me, the ‘acid test’ of any website revolves around three key criteria :
1. Is it useful ?
2. Is it interesting / informative ?
3. Is its content unique - ie. in the sense that it is not readily available, in its entirety, from any other single source ?
Points 1 & 2 will come down to subjective opinion of course ; but, speaking personally, basource.com passes comfortably on both counts. And - AFAIK - it meets my test number 3 also.

Someone had access to BA technical information they thought others would appreciate access to. They were right; it's become a useful reference site.
I don't know if it started as a hobby and was then monetized or was launched as a commercial venture, but the monetization is unobtrusive. I hope the site is able to continue.
Remember when people made websites just because they could?

Speaking as someone that runs a similarly structured website to BA Source (in another part of travel of no relevance to anyone here - and done to test things primarily!).
