BA32 HKG-LHR 9th Jan A380 to 777

Does anyone here know why BA32 on the 9th has been switched from A380 to 777? Was really looking forward to the upper deck.

I think the A380is doing some rescue flights to BOS to bring home people stranded for a few days due to the storm I believe.

Not that I've seen.

Last night's BA054 JNB-LHR was cancelled and the aircraft was still there when I was taxi-ing on Comair to DUR earlier today.

As per the BA54 thread I posted yesterday, BA are an A380 short....and I'm not sure when XLEI is due to return.

Also booked on this flight (on a 241) and unable to check in online. I guess there are fewer seats on the replacement aircraft so who knows what’s going to happen.

I think it is the same reason what Keane has mentioned.

We were reassigned to 15B and 16C. I called to see if they can do anything about having us sat together or my Fiance to sit by a window (she's a nervous flyer so likes to be able to see out) and they said there were no seats free. It allowed me to check in, however MMB still says 56A/B for our seats.

I'm surprised they took the A380 out of operation on this route because last time I checked loadings at the end of December, both BA28 and BA32 were pretty much fully booked. Heres the current load

It's quite an easy route to downgrade aircraft on because in addition to the 2 BA flights there are 6 CX flights to London. It's likely any offloaded passengers will still get out on the same day.

I know exactly what you mean! I have a couple of flights that have exactly 60min T5 connecting to BA27 that I wouldn't mind switching/missing to get onto CX254

BA called me late afternoon to tell me that as a result of the equipment change they were overbooked by 200. As my route was ex-AMS, they wanted to put me on a direct flight to AMS. We had turned up quite early at the airport and on the way I had checked flight loadings for Oneworld flights to LHR and noticed QR had lots of availability. I told the agent I would take the QR flight departing at 1830 and within minutes she had sorted it for me. It upset the check in staff as they were just closing but we got on. First time on QR, now I see what all the hype is about. The A350 business product is exceptional and the service incredible. I kept thinking when looking at the bowl of fresh red roses that BA remove a solitary flower in the first toilets then when the food came out how this business product rivals, if not surpasses BA first, let alone business. Now in Doha waiting for QR9 back to London, feeling pretty pleased with this outcome.

...are you going to miss your connecting flight to AMS or is it scheduled for another time?

As is LAX, as is SIN, as is JNB... what's left? Something has to give. One A380 is AOG in JNB, another is in maintenance in MNL. There's a lot of shuffling going on, and sadly not all of it has a fluffy outcome.

QR9, corrected. There is a world of difference between those two numbers

Flight to AMS unaffected
