Yes, but that was the former PM Renzi. The new populist government under PM Conte (apparently) rescinded the contract and now post pics of them flying Y long haul.

I’d be shocked if Hammond has protection unless he is a previous NI minister. The Chancellor didn’t get prot in the IRA days.

Andrew Neill in F on 107 to DXB. No sign of Abbott and Portillo.

I think we had a famous Paralympian on our flight to HEL today. Seemed to be quite a few extra staff around.

Shared the F cabin with Gary Oldman, Oscar winning British actor, on the LAX BA286 today. He was in 2E with his wife, writer Gisele Schmidt in 2F. They were met by special services at LHR.

A very polite an unassuming man, and if you are yet to see it, I can thoroughly recommend Darkest Hour for his brilliant and intimate portrayal of Churchill.

Abbott is having trouble with her seat number and Portillo will be trying to get there by Bradshaw.

Do all cabinet ministers get some sort of protection in way way or another?

I’ve seen a Sec of State on more than one occassion running down a busy A road near me.

Hammond lived near my old office. Used to see him walking to No 11 on a nice day and always had protection with him.

They don’t all get the full works. There are graded levels of protection based on job seniority, risk profile and other things.

It was the SecDef Michael Fallon's PPO that shot the 2017 Westminster terrorist Khalid Masood after stabbing PC Keith Palmer.

Senior civil servants would be expected to fly whatever the travel policy is for the rest of the civil service which, as far as I know, is Business for anything over 10 hours. They don't travel First.

Hammond probably in the CCR by invitation from BA. In any case, it's probably best for all concerned to keep his charming demeanour as far away as possible from the majority of Joe Public.
