Certainly preferable to the other option on the table right now, which I can only describe as a sh*tshow. Let’s give old Boris a couple of Union Jack flags that he can wave about enthusiastically, whilst we put him onto a boat called Brittania to be sent off into the Atlantic to the tune of a patriotic song.

I’d be shocked if Hammond has protection unless he is a previous NI minister. The Chancellor didn’t get prot in the IRA days.

I think we had a famous Paralympian on our flight to HEL today. Seemed to be quite a few extra staff around.

Shared the F cabin with Gary Oldman, Oscar winning British actor, on the LAX BA286 today. He was in 2E with his wife, writer Gisele Schmidt in 2F. They were met by special services at LHR.
A very polite an unassuming man, and if you are yet to see it, I can thoroughly recommend Darkest Hour for his brilliant and intimate portrayal of Churchill.

Hammond lived near my old office. Used to see him walking to No 11 on a nice day and always had protection with him.

Hammond probably in the CCR by invitation from BA. In any case, it's probably best for all concerned to keep his charming demeanour as far away as possible from the majority of Joe Public.
