Looking at a long haul break over October half term (week of Saturday 20th) of October, ideally to a city but might also be partial to a bit of beach time.

All the prices in WT+ or CW that I can see look pretty eye watering... any pointers on the forum?

Is it just me or has there been a distinct lack of decent ex-eu bargains? Not much in the way of 1100-ish West coast and 800-ish East coast fares from places like CPH or HEL. Nor can I remember seeing any QR overnight-in-Doha deals from half a dozen EU start points lately, which seemed to be quite frequent about a year or two ago. All the recent deals aren't quite bargains, or require very specific end points (eg. Portland). Perhaps I'm just impatient...

last time I remember there being a good deal was the sale at the start of 2016. QR gave us a little treat with the deal to Tokyo at the start of 2017 but since then it’s been pretty dry. That said I picked up Swiss F to BKK for 1600eur a few weeks ago and I consider that a bargain.

I managed to bag what I think may have been the last bargain seat for a OSL-BNE / MEL-ARN on QR in J for £2100 this week. No overnight in DOH however I wasn't really looking for one at the time.

If you’re UK based the Euro is far down from its 2016 1.35/1.40 which of course impacts. Currently exDUB west coast is £1350 in August which is as good as it gets now

Pretty much 1100 in pre "Brexit vote" currency in fact.

Well, technically, that's the pound being far down from its €1.30ish or the Euro being far up from its old £0.75 or so (not the other way round)...

1.36 at the start of 2016, it went on a slide as the uncertainty mounted, then had a pick up the week of the vote as folks believed the polls, up to about 1.31. Either way, it's not so much that Ex-EU pricing has changed significantly, just the currency conversion ratios.

Last September QR ran a decent sale. Think I paid about £1400 to Sydney return.
