Need a year-end TP run (ex-LON) to make / retain status?
Some tips for searching for the year-end TP run for newcomers, the below is indicative only, but hopefully provides a bit of guidance for relatively straightforward runs ex-LON. Some information on how to use ITA matrix is in post #4 of this thread (or just click here) along with these ideas, might come in handy. Feel free to share results, problems or general questions in the thread as these may not always work and there might be better deals out there...

For overnight trips remember to check BA and Iberia for their flights and hotel option as well, can get hotel for almost no extra cost at times

Need 80 TPs or fewer
Club Europe return somewhere close by is best - DUB, AMS and JER usually cheapest along with UK domestic returns. Additionally you may find that trips in to mainland Europe require a one night stay whereas the cheapest domestic CE returns do not have any minimum stay so can be booked as a same day return. If doing a back to back AMS and JER can be easier than DUB for an immediate turnaround - more information can be found in the back to back thread listed in the forum dashboard. The BA.com low fare finder can be very useful.

If you need as few as 45 TPs you might consider booking economy flights and hoping for a proactive online upgrade offer - but they're not guaranteed to materialise (so not one if you have no more time left in your TP collection year). Alternatively, booking a return to one of the 40 tier point destinations with one way in CE and the return in ET (or vice versa if cheaper). UK domestic route, Bilbao, Jersey and Amsterdam seem the most cost effective for this.

Need 85-120 TPs
Iberia flights via MAD to regional Spanish airports will get you 120 TPs as the domestic Spanish flights are 20 TPs in business. Under £300 including hotel can be available. Check BIO, GRX, VLC, BCN, SVQ etc. Example here

Need 125-160 TPs
Take a look at the shorthaul plus routes earning 80 TPs each way in business listed in the first post of this thread, MLA, IST, HEL and RAK are usually available. If time sensitive take a look at BA flight and hotel option to HEL, where you can usually get the last BA flight out on a Saturday, airport hotel and first return Sunday for well under £500.

Alternative options include positioning to JER and flying JER-LGW-XXX (AMS usually works well and avoids switching airports).

Need more than 160 TPs
You'll most likely be heading north then - OSL or VNO via HEL will get you 240 TPs, as will JER-LGW/LHR-HEL e.g. LHR-HEL-OSL for £520.
DUB-LHR-HEL return (or return to LHR) is currently a very efficient way of hitting 200-240 TPs

on which Dates? Sounds interesting...

22nd Feb coming back 27th. Sorry forgot to say I will use 15,000 Avios to fund £100 of the total price which £655. Im not really using all of this Avios I have accumulated anyway. But if BA707 is correct it is still 2.04/TP which is decent, I think

So I have found an improvement on the routing on the ita website. Where do I go to try and book this? Can't appear to book via the BA website as it includes First on AA for some legs and it won't let me choose the flights I want. Do I need to go to an independnt travel agent?

You can call the airline, but expect to pay a fee for phone bookings.

Generally a polite assertion that it can't be booked online will be enough for the fee to be waived. BA have been more willing, especially when AA coded flights are involved.

Thank you I'll try. I was under the impression BA would only book into Business not first for AA internal flights.

Looks interesting. Could you post your itinerary please? Curious to see what b2bs etc you have in there.

It doesn't matter anymore, AA call it domestic first on two cabin routes but there are no more first selling classes whether you book under the AA flight number or BA codeshare, so you can only receive business TPs of 140/40.

In fact if you credit to BAEC you'll earn more avios booked under the BA codeshare.

Thank you most helpful. I knew there were changes but had not fully understood them.

Hello everyone!

I haven't posted on here for a while but am looking for some help. I did the OTP - PHX run in April for a very reasonable £1,600, earning 1,020 TPs in the process. I'm looking to do something similar in 2019, although the closest I've found is OTP - LHR - HEL - JFK - PHX and back again for £1,700 at the end of April (earning 880 TPs). Does anyone have any other good routing suggestions? I'm flexible on dates between January and April.

I have also been struggling to get to a ticket through Powertools, even when running the Orbitz script. Does anyone have any good suggestions for ticketing? I have seen Propeller Travel mentioned as a good option.

Apologies for the slightly lazy post - I'm about to jump on a plane and wanted to post this before I board!

Many thanks in advance.

There are a few of us doing the OTP-PHX run in the coming April - there's a thread about it. I found my route via Google Flights but couldn't book through AA's website, so did it on the phone with them (with no extra charge).

Sri Lankan are currently selling Abu Dhabi to Jakarta return via Colombo for $650USD in Biz. Looks pretty wide open through until at least end of March.

Think that's 560 TPs for roughly £510 so around 91p per TP - not a bad deal ;-)

I did the OTP-PHX F-class run last year for 1000+TPs. The current deal is J-class. It's nowhere near as good as the F-class deal was, but the J-class fare has been stable for a while.

The F-class deal appeared around January last year - and only lasted a few weeks. My plan is to watch closely to see if the deal re-appears this January - and if it does, snap it up quickly. If it doesn't re-appear by the end of Jan, I'll book the J-class deal.

I'm not banking on the F-class deal re-appearing though - certainly not at the level as last year. However, if it does reappear for around the £2K mark, I'll go for it
