Please read the first few posts in this thread first as it contains lots of information which may answer your question.

Need a year-end TP run (ex-LON) to make / retain status?
Some tips for searching for the year-end TP run for newcomers, the below is indicative only, but hopefully provides a bit of guidance for relatively straightforward runs ex-LON. Some information on how to use ITA matrix is in post #4 of this thread (or just click here) along with these ideas, might come in handy. Feel free to share results, problems or general questions in the thread as these may not always work and there might be better deals out there...

For overnight trips remember to check BA and Iberia for their flights and hotel option as well, can get hotel for almost no extra cost at times

Need 80 TPs or fewer
Club Europe return somewhere close by is best - DUB, AMS and JER usually cheapest along with UK domestic returns. Additionally you may find that trips in to mainland Europe require a one night stay whereas the cheapest domestic CE returns do not have any minimum stay so can be booked as a same day return. If doing a back to back AMS and JER can be easier than DUB for an immediate turnaround - more information can be found in the back to back thread listed in the forum dashboard. The BA.com low fare finder can be very useful.

If you need as few as 45 TPs you might consider booking economy flights and hoping for a proactive online upgrade offer - but they're not guaranteed to materialise (so not one if you have no more time left in your TP collection year). Alternatively, booking a return to one of the 40 tier point destinations with one way in CE and the return in ET (or vice versa if cheaper). UK domestic route, Bilbao, Jersey and Amsterdam seem the most cost effective for this.

Need 85-120 TPs
Iberia flights via MAD to regional Spanish airports will get you 120 TPs as the domestic Spanish flights are 20 TPs in business. Under Ł300 including hotel can be available. Check BIO, GRX, VLC, BCN, SVQ etc. Example here

Need 125-160 TPs
Take a look at the shorthaul plus routes earning 80 TPs each way in business listed in the first post of this thread, MLA, IST, HEL and RAK are usually available. If time sensitive take a look at BA flight and hotel option to HEL, where you can usually get the last BA flight out on a Saturday, airport hotel and first return Sunday for well under Ł500.

Alternative options include positioning to JER and flying JER-LGW-XXX (AMS usually works well and avoids switching airports).

Need more than 160 TPs
You'll most likely be heading north then - OSL or VNO via HEL will get you 240 TPs, as will JER-LGW/LHR-HEL e.g. LHR-HEL-OSL for Ł520.
DUB-LHR-HEL return (or return to LHR) is currently a very efficient way of hitting 200-240 TPs

As the airlines don't dump seats at reduced rates when they know there is a demand from higher paying business travellers. They don't focus on the cheapo travellers at these times !

It's a pretty place for a short weekend, return Business Class flights and a decent Sofitel for around Ł450 for the two of you.

If you do want to do it in a day yourself though, then one of the scottish airports for Ł220-250 is probably your best bet.

If you have Avios to burn, a niche option is to book a single back from RAK or IST for the 80TPs for <Ł200, and book the outbound with an RFS, which will obviously also allow you to do a B2B if you want. You could also use Avios on the cash ticket, thus bringing your total spend to report to the Lady as "only Ł150...". Probably no point in spending more time in the air if not required though, unless you like the Long Distance meal options!
Leeds or newcastle- at about Ł200, Leeds you can only to on monday, thursday or friday biy newcastle every day.

Has anyone done a same day return HKG-DOH via the following routing HKG-CGK-CMB-DOH-CMB-CGK-HKG on a mix of CX/UL Y/J fares (20+140+140+140+140+20=600TP)?

I'm trying to take advantage of the UL Business I fares ex-CGK, but don't have much time to spare before the end of my TP collection year.

All the connections are tight outbound: CGK (70 min), CMB (95 min), DOH (95 min back-to-back), with one short inbound connection at CMB (80 min). Carry-on only.

1. Any thoughts/concerns on the short connections?
2. Would it be possible to collect all boarding passes (outbound and inbound) when checking in with CX at HKG?
3. Any need to clear immigration at DOH? I've been through DOH many times, and transit passengers don't have to go through immigration. But would I have to because my outbound "destination" is DOH?

I'm not sure which forum to post to as there isn't a UL forum and I've seen teledude and wonderman post here about UL DXB-xCMB-CGK TP runs here.

I believie @teledude attempted it in Jakarta and failed. You need to present yourself at the check-in desk for passport / credit card check, so 70 minutes won't be enough as check-in closes 60 minutes before departure.

1. allow more time in CGK
2. not for UL flight departing CGK
3. just security and you're back in departure hall - usually very quick/efficient security check

I forgot to say that this would be ticketed on one PNR, so perhaps it’s possible to get boarding pass at HKG?

If you have HKG-CGK-CMB-DOH... on a single PNR, you should be fine. You'll get checked in for all segments at HKG and they should be able to produce you with all boarding passes. If not, you'll get them at the transfer desk at the connecting airport.

Just a quick note to thank the regular contributors to this thread. After a couple of TP runs recently, I'm back up to BA silver with gold on the horizon.

Thanks everyone for your help and advice!

Try using one of the European AA sites e.g. Ireland or Germany.

I had a few false starts but Powertools and AA>COM (Europe) eventually worked. I had to remove an open jaw that Matrix was offering before I could get aa.com to play nicely

Book it on the US site and pay in dollars -- revolut works well for this. When you enter payment details on the final screen, use New York 10001.
