Need a year-end TP run (ex-LON) to make / retain status?
Some tips for searching for the year-end TP run for newcomers, the below is indicative only, but hopefully provides a bit of guidance for relatively straightforward runs ex-LON. Some information on how to use ITA matrix is in post #4 of this thread (or just click here) along with these ideas, might come in handy. Feel free to share results, problems or general questions in the thread as these may not always work and there might be better deals out there...

For overnight trips remember to check BA and Iberia for their flights and hotel option as well, can get hotel for almost no extra cost at times

Need 80 TPs or fewer
Club Europe return somewhere close by is best - DUB, AMS and JER usually cheapest along with UK domestic returns. Additionally you may find that trips in to mainland Europe require a one night stay whereas the cheapest domestic CE returns do not have any minimum stay so can be booked as a same day return. If doing a back to back AMS and JER can be easier than DUB for an immediate turnaround - more information can be found in the back to back thread listed in the forum dashboard. The BA.com low fare finder can be very useful.

If you need as few as 45 TPs you might consider booking economy flights and hoping for a proactive online upgrade offer - but they're not guaranteed to materialise (so not one if you have no more time left in your TP collection year). Alternatively, booking a return to one of the 40 tier point destinations with one way in CE and the return in ET (or vice versa if cheaper). UK domestic route, Bilbao, Jersey and Amsterdam seem the most cost effective for this.

Need 85-120 TPs
Iberia flights via MAD to regional Spanish airports will get you 120 TPs as the domestic Spanish flights are 20 TPs in business. Under £300 including hotel can be available. Check BIO, GRX, VLC, BCN, SVQ etc. Example here

Need 125-160 TPs
Take a look at the shorthaul plus routes earning 80 TPs each way in business listed in the first post of this thread, MLA, IST, HEL and RAK are usually available. If time sensitive take a look at BA flight and hotel option to HEL, where you can usually get the last BA flight out on a Saturday, airport hotel and first return Sunday for well under £500.

Alternative options include positioning to JER and flying JER-LGW-XXX (AMS usually works well and avoids switching airports).

Need more than 160 TPs
You'll most likely be heading north then - OSL or VNO via HEL will get you 240 TPs, as will JER-LGW/LHR-HEL e.g. LHR-HEL-OSL for £520.
DUB-LHR-HEL return (or return to LHR) is currently a very efficient way of hitting 200-240 TPs

I didn't know Hawaii required a reason. That's an amazing price for nearly 90 percent of your Gold earnings in one go.

I have been looking at potential routes on MH as well recently, albeit from PEN rather than BKK. Google flights can be a nice way of quickly seeing prices for various destinations on MH. Basically enter your start point, dates, cabin, and do not put in a destination, Click search and it will bring up the map with prices shown next to each destination. You can filter to "oneworld" under the airlines tab. Ideally try and get a 2000 mile route in for 140 TPs, so as noted BKK-KUL-TPE would be good and get you 2 x (40+140) TPs for a return.

Lots of destinations at good prices ex-BKK right now for 360 TPs
MH limited business class sale ex-Bangkok

You can nest BKK-KUL-DEL and DEL-KUL-PVG returns for 920 TPs / ~1200 EUR.

Edit: Also possible to add the DEL-KUL-SYD-PER run for 840 TPs / 1150 EUR

Thanks, yes good list of places. If looking at destinations in China I would caution anyone against trying the suggestion mentioned in that thread to get around TWOV restrictions!

Note I've not optimised this at all. It looks pretty easy to find better planes and timings, and stopovers are possible too.
Played around with this, and it can be routed NBO-(LVI, VFA, MPM, HRE)-JNB, MRU and LOS, albeit at considerable expense, for few/no additional TPs, as the most intra-Africa legs are on KQ or SA; however, there is potential for interesting stopovers - a TP holiday to MRU and HNL on one ticket, anyone?!

I think I would probably skip the last 17hrs LHR to NBO if I was doing that trip and go back home, in London, for a 48hrs nap.. 😂😂😂

Am seriously considering an extended stay in CPT/NBO either side of this, so no need to drop anything, but if you are based in Europe, positioning to NBO is a b*tch long way.

Back-to-back at HEL for BAEC TP Run

Hiya. I’ve booked a TP run with the following bookings:
Booking 1: Dep LHR to HEL on a Sunday, Rtn HEL to LHR on the Monday.
Booking 2: Dep HEL on the same Sunday as outbound LHR flight, return LHR to HEL on the Monday and catch return flight back to LHR from Booking 1 the same evening. So essentially these are two back-to-back flights on BA out of HEL. Could someone advise on how feasible a back-to-back with BA at HEL is on this type of booking? I still have time to cancel. Thanks!

Normally BA flights from LHR to HEL deplane direct to the non-schengen gate area, from where the plane will board a bit later. BA usually uses gates close to the Finnair Oneworld lounge, so enjoy that as well. If you are bussed to the terminal from a stand position, you need to follow the transfer route to get back to the gate area (do not enter baggage claim or passport control), around 5 minutes walk back to the bus/other gates, probably no transfer security (but could happen sometimes). Definitely do online checkin in advance so you have your boarding passes ready. HEL is a relatively small airport. Welcome to HEL ;-)

If you get bussed I think you get dropped downstairs near the 51A-D gates. I think boarding would be from the 50A-M gates for a bus so it would be up the escalator, along 100m and then right down to the 50 gates - basically takes a few minutes at most. There wouldn't be any security coming from the UK so you wouldn't be fed in to the transfer security area. There is a nice map on the HEL website.

BKK-KUL-BOM has been around for a while. 360TPs for £480ish and it's lie flat on the KUL-BOM flight.

What's the visa/immigration position here? Same day turnarounds possible?

You can get an e-Visa if you're a UK citizen, which makes the process pretty straightforward. I've never waited more than 15 mins at BOM with an e-Visa.

So yes, if there is more than one flight, same day should be possible. Doubt B2B would work.

According to EF it should just about be possible in BOM:

Minimum Connect Times

OFFLINE .30 2.30 3.00 1.00

I am planning to book one of these turnarounds in BOM in a couple of month’s time, and will report back.
