Need a year-end TP run (ex-LON) to make / retain status?
Some tips for searching for the year-end TP run for newcomers, the below is indicative only, but hopefully provides a bit of guidance for relatively straightforward runs ex-LON. Some information on how to use ITA matrix is in post #4 of this thread (or just click here) along with these ideas, might come in handy. Feel free to share results, problems or general questions in the thread as these may not always work and there might be better deals out there...

For overnight trips remember to check BA and Iberia for their flights and hotel option as well, can get hotel for almost no extra cost at times

Need 80 TPs or fewer
Club Europe return somewhere close by is best - DUB, AMS and JER usually cheapest along with UK domestic returns. Additionally you may find that trips in to mainland Europe require a one night stay whereas the cheapest domestic CE returns do not have any minimum stay so can be booked as a same day return. If doing a back to back AMS and JER can be easier than DUB for an immediate turnaround - more information can be found in the back to back thread listed in the forum dashboard. The BA.com low fare finder can be very useful.

If you need as few as 45 TPs you might consider booking economy flights and hoping for a proactive online upgrade offer - but they're not guaranteed to materialise (so not one if you have no more time left in your TP collection year). Alternatively, booking a return to one of the 40 tier point destinations with one way in CE and the return in ET (or vice versa if cheaper). UK domestic route, Bilbao, Jersey and Amsterdam seem the most cost effective for this.

Need 85-120 TPs
Iberia flights via MAD to regional Spanish airports will get you 120 TPs as the domestic Spanish flights are 20 TPs in business. Under £300 including hotel can be available. Check BIO, GRX, VLC, BCN, SVQ etc. Example here

Need 125-160 TPs
Take a look at the shorthaul plus routes earning 80 TPs each way in business listed in the first post of this thread, MLA, IST, HEL and RAK are usually available. If time sensitive take a look at BA flight and hotel option to HEL, where you can usually get the last BA flight out on a Saturday, airport hotel and first return Sunday for well under £500.

Alternative options include positioning to JER and flying JER-LGW-XXX (AMS usually works well and avoids switching airports).

Need more than 160 TPs
You'll most likely be heading north then - OSL or VNO via HEL will get you 240 TPs, as will JER-LGW/LHR-HEL e.g. LHR-HEL-OSL for £520.
DUB-LHR-HEL return (or return to LHR) is currently a very efficient way of hitting 200-240 TPs

320 TP can be had for EUR 600, flying PE ex FRA through CLT or DFW to SFO or SEA. Together with your positioning flights (which you could upgrade to CW), you should be able to hit (or come very close) to your target.

EDIT: Sorry, I now realize a previous poster pretty much suggested as much.

Routing through DFW would only deliver 220TP as DFW-SEA/SFO is less than 2000 miles so only gives 20TP for Y, not 70.
To get the 360 (90+70+70+90) you'd need to go via airports such as CLT or PHL.

Thanks - I'm looking at a contruct variation of AMS-SEA routing via LHR or DFW or PHL, for about 1380 GBP with Seattle actually being somewhere I want to go with I tickets for approx 500 TP. - Happy days. Question though - Hypothetically on the occasion, you could actually book this on BA's site when you get to the section to use avios to reduce cost, would you A) still get full TP's and B) does the maths add up on some occasions to reduce cost of a ticket using Avios. ( I suspect they are worth more to fly with than for cash reductions?)

Remember DFW is in the middle of the US, thus only 40 TPs to any continental destination from there.
A) you get full TPs and Avios even if you reduce the price with avios.
B) only if you're avios rich and/or cash poor. IMO.

Anyone know of any other weekends for OTP>PHX run after August ? Won’t be attending the PHX Do due to an already booked family holiday. I know last weekend in Nov is available but already in BGI that weekend also. Any others ? EU-USA ? A 600 TP run needed. Cheers

You will need to look around Christmas and then towards end of March/early April (although not the actual Easter weekend.)

Post 12 on this thread has the dates. Although I am not 100% that these apply to 2019 as there may be a slight variation on these.

have booked for myself 5-7 of April. Searching on Matrix on a return OTP-PHX will give you an indication when it is available, and allowed you to create a more sophisticated routing on these dates

Yes, as someone posted discontent about spring period not including the Easter Holiday, I checked that, but mainly to see if I could manage to place all of this run on my new membership year, shifting on April 8. The dates are unchanged:

'PERMITTED 01JUL THROUGH 31AUG OR 22NOV THROUGH 29NOV OR 24DEC THROUGH 31DEC OR 24MAR THROUGH 08APR FOR EACH TRANSATLANTIC SECTOR'

This is strange as the period windows has usually followed the lesser demand for premium seats TATL, like Thanksgiving week, Christmas/New Year, Easter and summer vacation months. The next year not possible to combine Easter Holidays off-work days with this run, and I'll have to split the credit to two years, as I guess, the 2 weeks grace period is only going the other way, or have anyone heard of permission to start next membership year a week in advance?

Definitely not possible to have it shortened only extended.

In relation to the dates, You will find that they will get updated later in the year to include the Easter 2019 dates (Well they did for all the CAI to HNL and DUB to HNL, MAN SAT etc fares)

Yeah, my emoticon was a sign of letting the question be a joke.

As per dates, there has been many members posting they booked late March/early April as present rules state. If the rules late change to include the Easter weekend, with the buzz of the TLV fare alive yet more today, one certainly hopes the reservations already made will not be cancelled as being mistake fares.

OTOH, presuming the Voucher value will be equivalent of the TLV FARE i.e. ~50% of original fare (£100/£197), then I'd like to be on the cancellation list too.
