Need a year-end TP run (ex-LON) to make / retain status?
Some tips for searching for the year-end TP run for newcomers, the below is indicative only, but hopefully provides a bit of guidance for relatively straightforward runs ex-LON. Some information on how to use ITA matrix is in post #4 of this thread (or just click here) along with these ideas, might come in handy. Feel free to share results, problems or general questions in the thread as these may not always work and there might be better deals out there...

For overnight trips remember to check BA and Iberia for their flights and hotel option as well, can get hotel for almost no extra cost at times

Need 80 TPs or fewer
Club Europe return somewhere close by is best - DUB, AMS and JER usually cheapest along with UK domestic returns. Additionally you may find that trips in to mainland Europe require a one night stay whereas the cheapest domestic CE returns do not have any minimum stay so can be booked as a same day return. If doing a back to back AMS and JER can be easier than DUB for an immediate turnaround - more information can be found in the back to back thread listed in the forum dashboard. The BA.com low fare finder can be very useful.

If you need as few as 45 TPs you might consider booking economy flights and hoping for a proactive online upgrade offer - but they're not guaranteed to materialise (so not one if you have no more time left in your TP collection year). Alternatively, booking a return to one of the 40 tier point destinations with one way in CE and the return in ET (or vice versa if cheaper). UK domestic route, Bilbao, Jersey and Amsterdam seem the most cost effective for this.

Need 85-120 TPs
Iberia flights via MAD to regional Spanish airports will get you 120 TPs as the domestic Spanish flights are 20 TPs in business. Under £300 including hotel can be available. Check BIO, GRX, VLC, BCN, SVQ etc. Example here

Need 125-160 TPs
Take a look at the shorthaul plus routes earning 80 TPs each way in business listed in the first post of this thread, MLA, IST, HEL and RAK are usually available. If time sensitive take a look at BA flight and hotel option to HEL, where you can usually get the last BA flight out on a Saturday, airport hotel and first return Sunday for well under £500.

Alternative options include positioning to JER and flying JER-LGW-XXX (AMS usually works well and avoids switching airports).

Need more than 160 TPs
You'll most likely be heading north then - OSL or VNO via HEL will get you 240 TPs, as will JER-LGW/LHR-HEL e.g. LHR-HEL-OSL for £520.
DUB-LHR-HEL return (or return to LHR) is currently a very efficient way of hitting 200-240 TPs

As such I need to get in my 4 BA flights since I will easily hit 1500TPs and do like my CX first class lounge access.

Criteria: Flights in one day, or less, ideally starting in LON and ending in MAN/LDS, 4 flights. Cheap and cheerful is fine as I don't need any TPs, would just prefer low risk (i.e. outstations with plenty of flights so if one is cancelled I can be shifted around) as most important to me are the 4 flights, coming back to the UK from HKG to do the others (or trying to do SIN-SYD 4 times) wouldn't be fun. Bonus points if the destination(s) have a nice lounge. I was presuming AMS would be the best (i.e. LHR-AMS-LHR-AMS-LCY), then a train north, but is there a circular routing anyone can think of using codeshares?

This is in August and my available days are Friday, Saturday or Sunday. I've got another year till my TP year expires so no need for a specific date (yet)
I presume you mean MAN/LBA? What about LHR-MAD-BCN-LHR-MAN/LBA...? Could choose from a number of other Spanish outstations, especially if you did LGW-XXX-MAD-LHR-MNA/LBA.

There are a few weekend flights out of MAN to destinations other than LON over the weekends in the summer.

I'd look at a simple LHR-LUX/BOD/DUB-LHR return for two flights (usually cheapest destinations), then LHR-FLR and return FLR-MAN if you can get it to work.

Alternatively just do 4 MAN shuttles on the same day and be done with it.

So getting close to booking the OTP - PHX. If am not mistaken it will require me to position out to OTP (ex LHR) on say Friday night, the do OTP - PHX on Sat, returning Sun to OTP and then fly back to LHR Monday morning. Is there a way to reduce the number of overnights in OTP from 2 to 1 (assuming they cannot be eradicated totally)

If you leave PHX on Sunday you won't get back to OTP until Monday afternoon (Bucharest is 10 hours ahead of Phoenix), and would have to do a back-to-back to be back in London the same day.

You would have to overnight on the Friday. Upon arrival back at LHR on the Monday morning you can B2B LHR-OTP-LHR on the Monday. Will be back at LHR Monday evening = only 1 night at OTP.

I read a lot of post here, but I couldn't find anything suitable for me. I need 260 TP to achieve BA Gold until 8. September
I've played around with the matrix and found something which could work, but even with Bookwithmatrix I can't reproduce the price (Ebookers: 1050 €)

Now I would like to ask the experts if you have something in your mind which could work for a weekend run for a reasonable price.

Thanks for your help

Departure Airport(s): HAM
BA TPs Needed: 260
BA segments needed: No special segments requirement
Max Budget: ~800 €
Available Travel Dates: End of August up to 8 Sept (End of qualification year)
Max # Travel Nights: 2-3 (In best case extended weekend to avoid days off at work)
BA only, or Partners Okay: Any oneworld

I'm not doing overnights in OTP. You can fly LHR-OTP-LHR on Friday B2B. LHR-PHX via various routings on Saturday. PHX-LHR departing Sunday, again via various routes, arriving LHR on Monday and then the LHR-OTP-LHR B2b on Monday.

Just to check is this 800 euros for the flights or all in including accommodation. The app says that flights to EDI/INV/GLA are 400ish euros return in CE and 2 returns would give you 320 tp.

The other option would be a CE and then WTP LH which would give 260 tp on the button unfortunately can't see any in budget for this.

It's just the flights meant by the budget, nevertheless I don't need to spend the complete budget. I thight I need to plan withslightly below ~3 € /TP.
Best would be to do all this in one nice trip to the beach

Long haul trips would be possible as well, but I think that's really beyond I want to pay.

Long time lurker but first time posting. I need 335 tier points by 08 August for Gold. Based in Guernsey so anything out of JER would be good. I've done a bit of searching but I'm not very good with ITA so I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction.

Thanks

HAM-LHR-MAD-GRX return can be done for between 490 and 540 Euro for those dates (a little over 3Euro/TP) - and can be done with just one night away (e.g. leave Sat/return Sun). Not exactly a beach but a great place to visit (and a beach is only a short drive away).

That would give you 240 200 TPs (see post below), so add in a cheap HAM-LHR return at the lowest 10TP option and you will be there. Don't forget that if this is for Gold qualification you almost certainly can use up to 14 days after Sep 8th to get the extra 20 60 TPs (though always more comforting to get them before the end of the TP year).

Edit: Also works for Seville (SVQ) at a slightly lower price with arguably better timings, depending on whether you actually want to visit the place or just fly there and back ...

Spanish domestics are 20TP, so I make this 200 total: (40+40+20)x2.

Ah, I forgot about that - thanks for pointing it out. Still not a bad way for the OP to get 200TP in just two days, but does then require a CE out/ET back (or vice versa) for HAM-LON to finish the job.

Might not be possible over a weekend and midweek fares tend to be cheaper on the HEL flights, but if you can get yourself to HEL you can do a one way HEL-LHR-AMS on BA for 120 TPs for £227, and then AMS-LGW-JER for £298 return. Total of 280TPs and £525 (around €600).

Hi everyone. First, thanks for the thread and forum - very educational for a first timer like me.

I have to go from Dublin to Hong Kong in late June and was thinking of trying to do it in a way that would maximise TPs with BA. I dont have a lot of date flexibility (out between 21-23 and back 27-28). I can see some routings via BKK out of both LHR and HEL that look like they might be worth considering (unless anyone has any other suggestions).

But I have a question about DUB-HEL. The BA calculator is showing it as 40TP. Is that correct? My understanding is EDI and LHR are 80TP and Dublin looks to be a similar distance.

Sorry if this has already been answered but I couldnt locate it amongst all the DUB-LHR-HEL search results.
