Welcome to the thread. This is a continuation of the highly popular 2017 Tier Point thread. We keep track of other prices, as well as useful reference information for those planning tier point runs.

Please read the first few posts in this thread first as it contains lots of information which may answer your question.

This is a community-maintained wiki post. Please add important information to it or correct outdated information by clicking the "Edit" button below.

Please remember to:
  • Convert currencies to GBP, rounding to the nearest pound.
  • Post full routes and full booking classes.
  • Note any restrictions on booking in the Notes section.
  • List in order of price per tier point within the relevant departure area.

Please see the links at the bottom of the wiki for archives of runs from previous years.

Need a year-end TP run (ex-LON) to make / retain status?
Some tips for searching for the year-end TP run for newcomers, the below is indicative only, but hopefully provides a bit of guidance for relatively straightforward runs ex-LON. Some information on how to use ITA matrix is in post #4 of this thread (or just click here) along with these ideas, might come in handy. Feel free to share results, problems or general questions in the thread as these may not always work and there might be better deals out there...

For overnight trips remember to check BA and Iberia for their flights and hotel option as well, can get hotel for almost no extra cost at times

Need 80 TPs or fewer
Club Europe return somewhere close by is best - DUB, AMS and JER usually cheapest along with UK domestic returns. Additionally you may find that trips in to mainland Europe require a one night stay whereas the cheapest domestic CE returns do not have any minimum stay so can be booked as a same day return. If doing a back to back AMS and JER can be easier than DUB for an immediate turnaround - more information can be found in the back to back thread listed in the forum dashboard. The BA.com low fare finder can be very useful.

If you need as few as 45 TPs you might consider booking economy flights and hoping for a proactive online upgrade offer - but they're not guaranteed to materialise (so not one if you have no more time left in your TP collection year). Alternatively, booking a return to one of the 40 tier point destinations with one way in CE and the return in ET (or vice versa if cheaper). UK domestic route, Bilbao, Jersey and Amsterdam seem the most cost effective for this.

Need 85-120 TPs
Iberia flights via MAD to regional Spanish airports will get you 120 TPs as the domestic Spanish flights are 20 TPs in business. Under Ł300 including hotel can be available. Check BIO, GRX, VLC, BCN, SVQ etc. Example here

Need 125-160 TPs
Take a look at the shorthaul plus routes earning 80 TPs each way in business listed in the first post of this thread, MLA, IST, HEL and RAK are usually available. If time sensitive take a look at BA flight and hotel option to HEL, where you can usually get the last BA flight out on a Saturday, airport hotel and first return Sunday for well under Ł500.

Alternative options include positioning to JER and flying JER-LGW-XXX (AMS usually works well and avoids switching airports).

Need more than 160 TPs
You'll most likely be heading north then - OSL or VNO via HEL will get you 240 TPs, as will JER-LGW/LHR-HEL e.g. LHR-HEL-OSL for Ł520.
DUB-LHR-HEL return (or return to LHR) is currently a very efficient way of hitting 200-240 TPs

It seems to jump the price by Ł500 when I build in a stopover (and ends up much cheaper to just do an ex-EU to SFO), but if anyone knows a way this can be done would appreciate the help! Targeting anything under Ł1500.
I believe the issue you have is that the fare is only permitted for travel at certain points in the year. See this post for more details

Unfortunately, each US stopover prices 600 eur more.

Category 8: Stopover restrictions

AND
- UNLIMITED STOPOVERS PERMITTED IN EACH DIRECTION IN THE UNITED STATES/CANADA/MEXICO AT EUR 600.00 EACH.

Great savings possible today on the Iberia Spanish website. For fatherday they offer gift vouchers of different value. Best value is the 500 euro for 250.

Buy TODAY( Monday) only. Book before 31/3, fly before 31/12, except July/august .

It says only Spain but I booked a Bru-Mad-BOG without problems . It needs minimum 1 Iberia flight.

As you are all experts in this field .What would be the best TP-value on such a value? No particular Iberia routings are often discussed here .

I found a Mad - BCN business connecting in 2 countries for 450 euro, but it is still 3 euro per TP.

I bought one of these vouchers but simply couldn't find where to paste the code I was emailed. Is it on the second page ('promotional code') or somewhere else?

I would adivse caution here.

Firstly, not all the gift voucher amounts are on offer, only the following:

€50 for €40 (20% off)
€100 for €75 (25% off)
€200 for €140 (30% off)
€300 for €195 (35% off)

Secondly, the rules state (my rather free translation in blue):

• Vuelos operados por Iberia y otras compańías que sean en conexión (Iberia Express e Iberia regional Air Nostrum) siempre que en la ruta haya un vuelo operado por Iberia.
On flights operated by Iberia and other carriers having a connection (Iberia Express and Iberia Air Nostrum regional) provided that at least one flight in the routing is operated by Iberia
• Bono de un solo uso.
Single use voucher
• Bono válido hasta el 31 de Marzo de 2018.
Voucher valid until 31st March 2018
• Periodo de vuelo: Hasta el 31 de diciembre.
Fly until 31st December
• Periodo de vuelo no válido: del 1 de junio al 30 de septiembre.
Blackout period 1st June to 30th September
• Sólo compras desde Espańa.
Only for purchase in Spain
• Sólo pago en Euros, y reserva en euros.
Pay in Euros only, and book in Euros
• No es válido para residentes y familia numerosa.
Not valid for non-citizens or large families (I think this means with 5 children or more !!!)
• No es combinable con Cash and Avios (Descuento con Avios)
Cannot be combined with Cash & Avios (Avios discount)
• No válido para vuelos de Puente Aéreo.
Cannot be used for flights on the Madrird-Barrcelona "air bridge" shuttle service

So unless you have a specific flight in mind, and a Spanish address, and a Spanish ID.... this one is probably not for you !

Can they discriminate an offer based on your location or nationality under EU law?

”Residentes” in this context means residents of the Spanish Islands, who get special discounts on island-mainland-island flights.
Families with at least 3 children also have discounts on (domestic-only?) flights.

You know, sometimes the stars align. I'm about to get to Silver, but I just got a decent raise this year, and with the amount of segments I'm doing each year... I'm thinking I should go for gold too. Maybe see you on the PHX DO

Plus, I want to visit Vegas so it's a good excuse, too.

If you look in the Wiki at the top of this thread it gives you details of "INCEU60" which is for AMS-BKK routing through London and then various options afterwards.

There was also a €500 for €250 but it appears to have vanished today...
