Need a year-end TP run (ex-LON) to make / retain status?
Some tips for searching for the year-end TP run for newcomers, the below is indicative only, but hopefully provides a bit of guidance for relatively straightforward runs ex-LON. Some information on how to use ITA matrix is in post #4 of this thread (or just click here) along with these ideas, might come in handy. Feel free to share results, problems or general questions in the thread as these may not always work and there might be better deals out there...

For overnight trips remember to check BA and Iberia for their flights and hotel option as well, can get hotel for almost no extra cost at times

Need 80 TPs or fewer
Club Europe return somewhere close by is best - DUB, AMS and JER usually cheapest along with UK domestic returns. Additionally you may find that trips in to mainland Europe require a one night stay whereas the cheapest domestic CE returns do not have any minimum stay so can be booked as a same day return. If doing a back to back AMS and JER can be easier than DUB for an immediate turnaround - more information can be found in the back to back thread listed in the forum dashboard. The BA.com low fare finder can be very useful.

If you need as few as 45 TPs you might consider booking economy flights and hoping for a proactive online upgrade offer - but they're not guaranteed to materialise (so not one if you have no more time left in your TP collection year). Alternatively, booking a return to one of the 40 tier point destinations with one way in CE and the return in ET (or vice versa if cheaper). UK domestic route, Bilbao, Jersey and Amsterdam seem the most cost effective for this.

Need 85-120 TPs
Iberia flights via MAD to regional Spanish airports will get you 120 TPs as the domestic Spanish flights are 20 TPs in business. Under Ł300 including hotel can be available. Check BIO, GRX, VLC, BCN, SVQ etc. Example here

Need 125-160 TPs
Take a look at the shorthaul plus routes earning 80 TPs each way in business listed in the first post of this thread, MLA, IST, HEL and RAK are usually available. If time sensitive take a look at BA flight and hotel option to HEL, where you can usually get the last BA flight out on a Saturday, airport hotel and first return Sunday for well under Ł500.

Alternative options include positioning to JER and flying JER-LGW-XXX (AMS usually works well and avoids switching airports).

Need more than 160 TPs
You'll most likely be heading north then - OSL or VNO via HEL will get you 240 TPs, as will JER-LGW/LHR-HEL e.g. LHR-HEL-OSL for Ł520.
DUB-LHR-HEL return (or return to LHR) is currently a very efficient way of hitting 200-240 TPs

I think it be fare basis specific, but I've never been able to work out a pattern! The OTP-PHX fare should work in the UK version. A strictly all US domestic (in my experience) is unlikely to work, for example. But happy to be shown otherwise

Not excellent value at about Ł2 a tp but AMS-MCO is back with summer dates can be made cheaper by not routing via HEL

Check the itinerary carefully, as there are several CMB-BKK flights, plus a BKK-HKG, make sure you get both on the same flight number to get the full 140 TPs.
There is also a direct UL flight CMB - HKG, alas on an A320/321 with recliners, quite comfortable, nevertheless.

I'm thinking of doing a CGK-CMB-DXB-CMB-CGK run with the CMB-DXB-CMB being a back to back. I saw a trip report and a few comments about a back to back being difficult at CGK but has anyone got experience at DXB? Scheduled itinerary has 1 hour 10 minutes between arrival and departure.

I'd be more comfortable at DOH, knowing the airport well, sadly it's not available on the dates I need. I'm not familiar with the connection experience at DXB. Any experiences/comments appreciated.

I would've thought for this to earn 150 TPs the technical stop should not appear on your itinerary, so should only mention CMB-HKG and not CMB-BKK-HKG even if each leg is the same flight number.

We had this discussion on last year's TP Run thread when I was about to embark on my first (!) TP run. Wonderman had the answer. Both times I did CMB-BKK-CAN and HKG-BKK-CMB all as one flight number and got the 140 TPs

Been meaning to get to HKG, so thanks to wonderman for pointing out that other Asian destinations possible on this fare.

I am keen to book the Itinerary (https://www.screencast.com/t/PhKWQlzs) FRA-DOH-CMB-BKK-HKG and return, which has CMB-BKK-HKG/return as the single flights UL890/UL891, respectively. Can one of the experts tell me how many TP's would I expect for the full round trip?

A. (140+140+40)*2 = 640 TPs
B. (140+140+40+40)*2 = 720 TPs
C. (140+140+140)*2 = 840 TPs

Thanks in advance!

Generally you would end up with option C, but sometimes errors do happen. It's funny because this 1 flight on 2 separate legs usually causes headaches when planning US TP runs as it robs you of two sets of points but in this case it profits you because the CMB HKG is longer than 2000 miles.
Some you win, some you loose. This one you shall be on the winning side

Anyone seen any good TP Runs ex EU to SFO in J or F (prefer to fly ex-EU to East Coast and then West Coast ... same on way back to maximise TP's)

Travel Dates are flexible > Outbound around 24/09 and Inbound around 02/10. Must be in SFO on weekend of 28-30 September.

Thanks

yes both legs are on the direct A320. The seating works ok as we are travelling with young kids so it is easier to keep them in their seats!
