Need a year-end TP run (ex-LON) to make / retain status?
Some tips for searching for the year-end TP run for newcomers, the below is indicative only, but hopefully provides a bit of guidance for relatively straightforward runs ex-LON. Some information on how to use ITA matrix is in post #4 of this thread (or just click here) along with these ideas, might come in handy. Feel free to share results, problems or general questions in the thread as these may not always work and there might be better deals out there...
For overnight trips remember to check BA and Iberia for their flights and hotel option as well, can get hotel for almost no extra cost at times
Need 80 TPs or fewer
Club Europe return somewhere close by is best - DUB, AMS and JER usually cheapest along with UK domestic returns. Additionally you may find that trips in to mainland Europe require a one night stay whereas the cheapest domestic CE returns do not have any minimum stay so can be booked as a same day return. If doing a back to back AMS and JER can be easier than DUB for an immediate turnaround - more information can be found in the back to back thread listed in the forum dashboard. The BA.com low fare finder can be very useful.
If you need as few as 45 TPs you might consider booking economy flights and hoping for a proactive online upgrade offer - but they're not guaranteed to materialise (so not one if you have no more time left in your TP collection year). Alternatively, booking a return to one of the 40 tier point destinations with one way in CE and the return in ET (or vice versa if cheaper). UK domestic route, Bilbao, Jersey and Amsterdam seem the most cost effective for this.
Need 85-120 TPs
Iberia flights via MAD to regional Spanish airports will get you 120 TPs as the domestic Spanish flights are 20 TPs in business. Under £300 including hotel can be available. Check BIO, GRX, VLC, BCN, SVQ etc. Example here
Need 125-160 TPs
Take a look at the shorthaul plus routes earning 80 TPs each way in business listed in the first post of this thread, MLA, IST, HEL and RAK are usually available. If time sensitive take a look at BA flight and hotel option to HEL, where you can usually get the last BA flight out on a Saturday, airport hotel and first return Sunday for well under £500.
Alternative options include positioning to JER and flying JER-LGW-XXX (AMS usually works well and avoids switching airports).
Need more than 160 TPs
You'll most likely be heading north then - OSL or VNO via HEL will get you 240 TPs, as will JER-LGW/LHR-HEL e.g. LHR-HEL-OSL for £520.
DUB-LHR-HEL return (or return to LHR) is currently a very efficient way of hitting 200-240 TPs

BA Tier Point Runs | 2018 master thread

Hi there, I have a question for the TP run masters:
We have booked a flight OSL-LHR-JFK-LAX-LAS/ LAS-LAX-JFK-LHR-OSL
Now - due to a schedule change - AA has 'optimized' my route to OSL-LHR-JFK-LAX-LAS/ LAS-LHR-OSL
What do you suggest?
1. Shall I ask for original routing back, as it also includes A Class LAX-JFK?
2. If not, the route they offer now would have been much cheaper if booked so from the start?
3. And, lastly, what happens to TP earning?
Thanks for your advise.

1. Yes, you can ask for the routing you wish (including getting back those A-class on the transcons) - but be prepared with your itinerary that you want before you make that call
2. If the routing is now cheaper, then ask for a full refund, then book the routing as a fresh booking - no problem with this
3. If you want to guarantee maximum TPs, it is always best to fly the sectors that will generate them (rather than relying on the possibility of ORC - original routing credit - which may or may not be provided)
Hope this helps

3. If you accept your 'new' routing you can ask for ORC - original routing credit - from BAEC and you should be creditted with what you originally booked, but if you want to guarantee maximum TPs, it is always best to fly to get them than risk a BAEC agent's discretion in anyway

exOTP Advanced Purchase Fare BA ILN8C8S4 to PHX
Some information below on this advanced purchase OTP fare. I think this does cover multiple US destinations, but this is highlighted for PHX which is particularly cheap.
Routings via HEL are possible so: OTP-LHR-HEL-JFK-LAX-PHX-LAX-JFK-HEL-LHR-OTP. Also bear in mind LHR-OTP is a short haul + route so earns 80 TPs one way in J, so a simple OTP-LHR- JFK-LAX-PHX-LAX-JFK- LHR-OTP would earn 80+140+140+40+40+140+140+80=800 TP.
The fare does cover travel dates for 2018. However, if you are looking for late 2018 you need to bear in mind that AA flights are only released at 330 days whilst BA flights are released at 355 days.
As it is an advanced purchase fare there is no explicit end date.
Example price:
OTP-PHX - £1,296
This allows positioning for your inbound TATL prior to the Sunday. You can therefore set off from PHX on Saturday arriving in to NYC during Saturday, have a night in NYC night, and then do your TATL on Sunday.
So 2 transfers in Europe and 2 transfers in the US each way. An overnight connection of up to 24 hrs between flights would be counted as a transfer, anything beyond that would be a stopover.
Stopovers can be done in Europe. Bear mind the cost of doing a stopover in London on the way out is a lot more expensive since APD is £150, so the total additional cost of adding a stopover in London would be €150 + £150 + any other airport fees. On the inbound if you did a stopover in London you would only pay the extra £26 APD for the LHR-OTP sector.
Cancellation and change conditions:

A quick 105 TPs
I'm trying to my other half up to Silver - 105 tier points needed by end Feb 2018. A quick jaunt around Europe should be fine. I see these options in Club Europe starting in London:
1. A pair of London to short haul returns at 4x40 - finding the time is proving tricky!
2. A short haul plus return at 2x80 - not many that we've not been to and actually want to go to.
3. An open jaw trip including a short haul plus (eg LON-VIE, SOF-LHR) taking a train or economy flight in between at 40+80. Makes for a long journey home but it is a TP run after all!
4. A three-legged journey at 3x40 eg LON-VIE-MAD-LON
So I'm trying to price up option four but can't get the prices below about £700 per person. I'd thought that BA out, then Iberia or Finnair and then BA home would be simple but the middle legs are coming out very expensive on a joint ticket or on a separate ticket for the middle flight (being one-way).
Any tips? Anything I'm missing?

Gatwick-Malta return for £271 and 160 TP? Seems widely available in Jan/Feb.
Or 2 trips Gatwick-Genoa return for £145 (x2) = £290 and 160TP.
A few other ideas on this thread, although the headline BCN price seems to have crept up now... Ba: Lgw - bcn j £139 [80tp]

No problem, AA can handle this in the way you wish They are exceedingly helpful when you call.

I am just off the phone with BAEC.
BA would only honor points for the original booking if booked with BA.
In our case, the tickets have been booked on AA stock.
Therefore BA would NOT honor the original booking and would only credit points as per NEW routing.
-> I will now have to discuss with AA to put me on the old legs/ booking classes and booking codes.
Update: AA was able to rebuild the original itinerary - however, due to schedule changes with both BA and AA - we need to leave LAS the evening before our original morning departure as there is no early LAS-LAX connection to catch the earlier LAX-JFK.
Everyone with a OSL-LAS TP run itinerary should check their tickets. Changes came in this afternoon.

[QUOTE=KARFA;29235643]exAMS Advanced Purchase Fare INCEU60 to BKK
Some information below on this advanced purchase exAMS fare to BKK. At £1,340 this can be a cheap way to get to all Far East destinations. Also AMS is fool proof for back to backs.
Permitted routings are:
1. AMS-LON-BKK
2. AMS-LON-HKG-CX/HX/RJ-BKK
3. AMS-LON-KUL-BA/MH/RJ-BKK
4. AMS-LON-SIN-3K/CX-BKK
Both LHR to SIN and KUL earn 160 TP in J, LHR-HKG is just 140 TP. Be careful if going to KUL as you may be routed on MH to BKK in I class which earns no TPs or avios.
Any idea why MH I class KUL-BKK has zero TPs? All their other classes earn TPs. It looks like RJ earns 40TPs in I on that route.
