One out of Three Passengers Cannot Check In
Flying LHR-BOS in Club tomorrow. Myself, Mr Gamebird and Mini Gamebird. Went to check in online this evening as always and all good for the husband and son, but against my name is the message "Sorry, we can’t check you in for this flight. Please go to the airport check-in desk."
A little background, we were originally flying on the 12th, but two days ago changed to tomorrow's flight (11th) when redemption availability opened up. The agent reissued the tickets there and then and allowed us to select our seats. All pretty standard. Saying that, there's been a red banner for a while saying that we need to add API, but I'd done this ages ago. I checked it and it's all in an correct, however the red banner is still there.
Slightly worried now! Anyone know why 2/3 passengers would be OK to OLCI but not the third? Insights and experiences welcome as always.

Standard API issue, happens to me often, especially with US bound flights... likely some little box that is not checked, so computer says “no”. I would be more worried about weather related issues than your API info... Otherwise, likely to be a dreaded SSSS printed on your airport boarding pass..
Good luck, and safe travels!

No, it doesn't seem to have any bearing whether you have GE/TSAPre. I had a short period about a year ago where I was SSSS on every westbound TATL which was a little annoying. Fortunately the last few flights I haven't been.

However, yours seems much simpler, likely only a plain SSSS on your boarding pass

Thanks all, helpful info. Can anyone explain what I should expect as extra screening and should we arrive earlier than T-2h which is our normal?

First of all, given what has happened today, check that your flight is actually LEAVING tomorrow. I may give it a little bit longer, but purely due to today’s backlog. SSSS usually happens at a table between scanning your boarding pass at the gate and physically boarding the aircraft. So nothing to worry about from that perspective!

The additional screening is at the boarding gate, just after you step off the escalator and onto the jetty. It’s a fairly quick affair, as others have said give your hand luggage to your other travelling parties. No extra time is required, as you have already passed through the gate. The G4S employees conducting this charade are rude, abrasive and rather enjoying their positions, examining your shoes, belts and duty free purchases. They were incredulous that I had no hand baggage, asking me several times how many bags I had and walking around my person to check I was telling the truth and hand snuck a bag in.

Indeed - Mrs CKBA had the dreaded SSSS the other week so I took charge of the hand baggage.... (although lots of lemmings kept following the SSSS groups until ushered/shooed away by the G4S staff).

As far as the OP is concerned the most likely is a visa/passport check.

I concur with one of the previous posters, If SSSS'd just give your husband and son all your belongings (bar maybe one small item, like a purse), me and my partner have done this and it's always made it easier (In fact once, a security agent even hinted to do it). It really shows how pointless the whole thing is though.
