Does anyone else experience phone problems in GF lounge?
My phone is showing a healthy 4 bars (Virgin is my supplier) but I cannot call or text. (This happened when I was last in GF before flying up to LBA for the Leeds FlyerTalk Do but I didn’t think too much about it.)
My flight is delayed by 4 hours and I can’t phone or text my friends in Manchester to tell them not to set out to meet me at the original arrival time and can’t phone my husband who has just dropped me off and driven home to Wales. I have ended up FaceTiming my poor 82 year-old Mum with a list of people to call on my behalf!
I am in the lounge by the way, if anyone wants to say hello...

Funnily enough, I'm on Three and despite having full signal, I cant seem to access any data throughout a good portion of the T5A complex. Figured it was just me! Only noticed it in the last few months too.

Hi,
When coming back from Madrid a few weeks ago I was in T5 GF and turned on my microsfot mobile ( Tesco) and it could not call or text. Once I was at the aircraft before the doors closed I was then able to make a call. I thought it was just the pohne taking a long tine to readjust to UK after being swiyched off for several hours
Regards

I have noticed this from time to time in various locations around LHR, not just at T5 or BA lounges. It mainly happens on my EE sim (I call it sim because I have swapped it to a different phone without making any difference), although I have had Vodafone affected as well.
Maybe there is an interference on mobile signal from something in the area?

Neither I or any of the people I want to contact are on WhatsApp. And I don’t know about Skype.
UPDATE - as I am typing this I got a reply to the text I have been trying to send unsuccessfully for the last hour. Will try the phone again. Fingers crossed!

You can install Skype on your phone (assuming it's a smartphone of course), and it's just like making a regular call, but over wifi. It's costs next to nothing (I charge up my account about £10 a every couple of years). It's actually free if the other person is on Skype, and peanuts if you have to call a landline.
