Storm Caroline flight disruption in Scotland, 7 Dec 2017

I'm flying out of EDI on BA tomorrow. Since the warning for storm Caroline has had its severity and distribution updated to suggest that disruption to flights is more likely I'd like to keep an eye on things.

What's the best place to look?

I’m flying to Helsinki tomorrow morning from Edi. I believe it’s the far north that will take the brunt of it with Edinburgh airport currently showing 40 - 55 mph winds. Hopefully, we’ll both get away without any major delays. (Fingers crossed)

Yes, I'm not too worried at the moment :). It looks like the winds will be worse for you than for my evening flight.

There's been one ABZ and one NCL cancellation so far.

Good question. We are flying LGW-GLA tomorrow so will be watching closely.

Bring your winter woolies with you, currently showing -1 to -3 over the next 3 day’s. Colder here than Helsinki

And they show on the BA status page, so that seems like a good place to watch. I wasn't sure how real time it was.

Family friend works as a consultant for Traffic Scotland. Latest update -. North and north west, Aberdeen (northwards) is going to be the worst area affected with winds up to 90 mph. Central belt and east coast less affected but strong winds forecasted approx 40-50mph. All bridges will be restricted and ferries cancelled.

Is there any particular reason why a flight from NCL is affected? The reports I've seen don't suggest North East England will be particularly affected.

Somewhat OT: is it a case of shuffling aircraft/rotations around, and what factors play into the calculations for which ones get cancelled/shuffled?

These haven't been cancelled due the weather, they have been no-op for several weeks.

Many thanks for that clarification, I saw them in red on the status screen and assumed it was weather related. Your reply indicates these are flights that were scrubbed weeks ago due to the normal schedule shuffling that goes on. Welcome to Flyertalk and welcome to the BA forum planenut321, I hope we will see plenty more of you here.

I was booked on the BA1445 from EDI to LHR at 11:40am tomorrow and have been notified that it's cancelled. Don't know if it's related to Carolina or not.
