Two aborted takeoffs on BA174 30 Nov 17

Twice we had had an aborted takeoff this evening. First time the Captain says it was at the request of ATC who made a mistake, second time they announce we’re going to have a maintainance inspection because the cargo door didn’t look closed.

I would not want to be a nervous flyer, skidding twice on the runway isn’t a great experience.

Now sitting on the tarmac waiting for a crew to come over.

BA174 is.....? Where to where...?

Are you at risk of crew going out of hours because of delay?

That’s a JFK-LHR.

BA174 is JFK 18:45 -> LHR 06:50

They’ve announced that the door is fine, but now we need to refuel. I’m hoping that with it being a relatively short flight, that we’re okay with crew hours so far.

Although i I think I just won a free 12 hour layover in London,

If the door really is broken, then you had some stylish luggage.

CSD just came to inform me that I’ll be spending 12-24 hours at LHR.

I wonder if EU261 applies when you’re flying between two non EU countries with a UK connection.

Yes as you are on a EU carrier.
Read up on the EU compensation tread as you now have a lot of time.

Sorry to hijack the point of this thread. Looking at the compensation thread, any compensation will only be based on how late I get to London, right? (Post 6, Q2) So if I get to London 2 hours late, but my final destination 18 hours late, even on a single PNR, I’m only entitled for the 2 hours?

Although they just just mentioned the dreaded “running out of hours” statement so this might all be moot!

No, it's final ticketed destination. Suppose your trip is JFK-HKG, with a connection in LHR. You arrive 18 hours late to HKG, that's what counts, not when you arrive in London.

See post #3 , Q4

Good question. No update from the cockpit in a while and a crew member just told me that they’re getting close to the threshold of not having enough hours.
