Some reports coming out that it was the same guy in 1A on the 1466 to Inverness this weekend.

Im pretty sure that guy, the one in the DYKWIA thread, was on the Mexico route returning to Inverness and not the HND route.

789 Flub

Evening all - just a wondering to ask...

Heading to BOM in a few days am in club (no first on sale) on a 789. The first cabin is blocked off as normal. Do the cabin crew ever invite/allow people to sit there on the actual flight? I am a GCH and just wondering if they might offer up the first cabin once we get on the plane despite it not being open on the seat map at check in. Just curious that's all... am already in 7k so a really first world question.

Cheers

You can read about other's experiences here:

Basically, just keep watching and hoping. The cabin crew won't allow you to move up there unless they are staffed to service the extra seats and in that case the cabin will usually have been opened before you are boarding.

First will be closed off unless the Club loads exceed the capacity. The crew won’t offer the First cabin and it they’ll say no if you ask. As IFMs we’re pretty insistent FMU keep it closed off unless necessary.

Yeah fair that is what I was thinking that it would come down to staffing levels. No problems am already quite content with my 7k.

Well it doesn't come down to staffing levels. It comes down to whether there are more people in Club than there are seats. If there are too many people in Club, they will move some people forward. You'll still get normal club service.

I’ve experienced it before where the F cabin was closed, even at the check in desk at LHR but once seated, the IFL came and asked me to move seats to 1A. There was the captain’s son, one CC’s parents and me in the F cabin. You may get lucky.

It happened to me a few weeks ago on the 245 to EZE (789) where I boarded with BP 13B and the IFM was looking out for me as I stepped on board and invited me to head to the front and see his colleague, who directed me to 2A. I'm GCH.

Husband and I (both GCH) were Flubbed from HND this afternoon. Very happy since it’s a 14 and a half hour day flight!
We’d already checked in, boarding passes updated about 4 hours before the flight it seems.
Side note, the First lounge in HND is stunning. And it was almost empty as there were very few JAL flights today.

I’m flying on BA908 to FRA on Tuesday which is being operated by a 787-9. Rows 1 and 2 have become available to select in MMB. Would this be a sure sign the flight is operating with FLUB on the day? I’m currently in 7A and want to minimise getting bumped back to a random seat if F closes.

Indeed it is. Very much enjoyed perusing the memorabilia in the small room towards the end while enjoying some bubbles and a small sake
