Please use this thread for discussion, conjecture and speculation about the Group Boarding Process.

Experiences of the actual process in airports should be made in the dedicated thread:

Group Boarding Summary (courtesy chris1979)

NB. Customers with additional needs will be offered pre-boarding ahead of all the groups listed above.

Boarding priority for Executive Club Gold, Silver or Bronze Members or oneworld equivalents, will automatically be reflected in the group number given on their boarding pass. If they arrive after their group has been called, they can use the priority boarding lane to go through before the flight closes.

Please note that priority boarding will not be reflected for any other people travelling with an Executive Club Member on the same booking at the moment, but will be introduced in the coming months. In the meantime, the whole party can use the priority boarding lane and our staff will endeavour to board everyone together.

Pre-boarding
Families with small children
We invite families with infants under two and young children in pushchairs to board first, so that the whole family can settle in. Customers must arrive by the time specified on their boarding pass so that they are ready to board and we have enough time
to load their pushchair into the hold.

Customers requiring disability or mobility assistance
We will assist customers on to the aircraft ahead of other passengers so that they have time to settle in and get comfortable. Please contact us at least 48 hours before their flight so that we can make the necessary arrangements.

Boarding by group to be introduced [general discussion]

I don't how reliable the source is but there's a suggestion in another place (Facebook) that group boarding is to be introduced on BA in December. If this is true and if it's anything like the AA system and enforced like the AA system I'd say it has to be a welcome and positive move.

Has anyone else heard anything about it? There was a suggestion back in June of a new trial in this thread but that in itself didn't sound like anything particularly new.

I cannot vouch for the veracity of the information.

One lives in hope.

Our experiences with AA's Group Boarding have been very positive, although we have no idea what happens after Group 1.

Edit: next post noted. Damn, our next l/h is on 9 Dec.

This does sound positive, but I'll be very surprised if GGL members get the same priority as AA extends to CK members!

You're right, too simple. As a premium cabin class passenger without status I would not be expecting to wait behind frequent flier status passengers in lower cabins.

I was just thinking the same thing!

More seriously though I wonder if anyone in the know can confirm it or when it will be officially announced.

You're forgetting the "Those gate checking their bags" group who get to board first . I would guess it should be:

1. Gold/First/CE
2. Silver/CW
3. Bronze/WTP
4. First half of the rest (either by seat number or check in time)
5. Second half of the rest

I wouldn't have thought assistance should have an actual category, but not sure what they do on AA (on Easyjet, they are after Speedy boarders)

Interesting. If enforced, a welcome change. Those groups will need to be visible (large sized font) on the BP however!
