Flight cancellations and delays 02/11/17

Just a bit of a heads-up, there are a few flight cancellations between 10am and 11am from LHR today, presumably because there's a bit of fog around at the moment and they've needed to slow down the slots. As far as I can see, affected are:

09:55 BA1310 to ABZ
10:00 BA346 to NCE
10:30 BA588 to LNE
10:35 BA1390 to MAN
10:40 BA834 to DUB
10:50 BA185 to EWR

Several others are also delayed. I was due to be on the 834 to DUB (coincidentally it's International Stout Day).

There are a few more to add to your list internetplumber

BA0396 LHR BRU 5 10:55 - Cancelled
BA0604 LHR PSA 5 11:00 - Cancelled
BA0368 LHR MRS 3 11:10 - Cancelled
BA0850 LHR WAW 3 11:25 - Cancelled
BA1440 LHR EDI 5 11:30 - Cancelled
Additionally quite a few departure delays for those not cancelled, and for those flights coning in to LHR this morning quite a few slot delays and a number of them being held on stand at the outstation.

I notice that the flight we are due on in a couple of weeks is listed as cancelled (185 to EWR), in that case could we ask to go to JFK instead if there were space in First or would we have to wait until there was space in First to EWR. We are on a 2-4-1 if that makes a difference.

If there is space they will put you on a JFK flight no problem.

The fact that this flight's been cancelled today really has absolutely no bearing on whether it might be cancelled on the day that you fly in two weeks' time. So I don't think there is any reason to have any concerns just because there have been some short-haul cancellations today.

Especially as it looks like today's BA185 hasn't been cancelled because of the fog, but because the aircraft has gone tech.

Aah, I thought it was because of the fog which could happen any day in November.

The latest from Eurocontrol https://www.public.nm.eurocontrol.in...pec/index.html

Looks like both Gatwick and Heathrow affected (City is not affected), and possibly until 1600.

Aerodromes

London TMA (EGKK, EGLL )
Arrivals regulated due to low visibility.
Both EGLL and EGKK arrivals regulations have been extended until 1600UTC resulting in some high delays.

Sat in the CX Lounge and looking at 1h delay for our HEL service. Don't mind it. More time to enjoy the lounge.
Cymro and rossmacd like this.

I landed at 6.40am this morning and the fog was really bad, we were stacked for half an hour as they were spacing the planes out due to the poor visibility.

I'm new to this forum but need guidance for my Mom. She is flying FCO-LHR-JFK but her FCO-LHR flight has been cancelled. She is working with the BA check-in desk at FCO but having language barrier issues trying to get re-booked. We called BA to get them to rebook her directly on the an Alitalia (AZ) flight to JFK. The phone agent said she couldn't make that change which makes NO SENSE to me. US airlines can and often will make that change on the phone. Are we being BS'd? Also, how does my mom go about getting compensation with what is inceasingly looking like an extra day in FCO.

Correct

BA is not a US airline.

Nope. BA contact centers can only rebook over the phone on other Join Business Venture flights, so BA, AA, IB, AY. The only people who can book your mother on another carrier are the agents at the airport I'm afraid.

No compensation for fog delays, it's not BA's fault.
